HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-10-20Minutes of Regullr Meeting of Board of A]d ermen of City of Riverside, Missouri - October_20, 1964 ~ __ ._~ A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on October 20, 1964, at 8:00 p.m. and upon a roll call, Aldermen H. Brenner, Clark, .._ Majors, Swetnam, and Young were present, W. Brenner, absent and Mayor Filger calling said meeting to order. r:inutes of Regular meeting of October 6, 196!}, were reed and eecepted. Mr. H~vrnbeck inquired as to his obtaining license to run a trailer sales and trailer repair place North of Highway 45 and east of Line Cresk. He stated he would have anprogimately 20 to 30 trailers there at all times. He also wanted permission to have a trailer there for watchman purposes and perhaps live there. He stated he wetted to get it fixed up and start to run the place January 1, 1965. The council approved his applications. Representatives of Parkville dater Company wanted the Citp~s view regarding the ins~llation of fire hydrants in the City. He stated this matter was brought up at the Missouri Pubic Service Commission when the Mayor and Attorney were there on the Water Company Hearing a~3 understood the City was interested in installing some hydrants. However, he stated there were two ways they could be paid for one was that the people using water and who were a certain distance of th® hydrants would have to pay 50~ per month extra on their water bill, or the other way was the city could pay f or them, the cost would be 75.00 per hydrant per year for the first 18 hydrants, then on the amount over 18, the cost would be X55.00 per year. He stated the business places could have their own private hydrant if they wanted to, and in the business areas, the businesses who did have them would have to pay 50¢ per month for the first 3 thousand squaref eet and they35¢ per month for each additional one theussad sq. ft. and four units would be 5U¢ per montn. The Water Company also stated they understood that w e were having trouble with their company or person instilling the water mains not fixing the roads as theyw ere prior to their laying the water mains. He stated he would like to have some from the council, the ffieyor~ and a representative of the water to go over the city roads and see what should be done. Everyone agreed this would be a good way to settle the mans' of road repair. The City thought i°I r. Booth would be a good person t o go along, as__he knows the roads in Riverside. Swetnam stated he talked to A:r. Charles regarding the sanitation problem in the trailercourt in Northwood acres and Mr. Charles said '`- that the water would have to be tested in Kansas City and that if it cost quite a b it, the City would have to contribute sometizing to the expense. The concern where the water would be tested in Kansas City was a private concern and not connected to the State Health Depar tment. Swetnam moved that after the Gas Comps ny fixed the roads of South Drive and Val ley Drive that M r. Booth patch the places on South Drive for ~L}0. 80 ~ d Parch Va lley Road for a sum of ~80.U0, however, it is understood that this w orkw ould not be done until after the Gas Company repair] the road, seconded by Clark, the roll was cal led and votes w ere as follows: H. Brenner-aye; W. Brenner-absent; Clark-aye; Majors-aye; Swetnam-aye; and Young-aye. H. Brenner moved that ttie city purchase the Michelin tires (four) fort he pdice car whichwould cost a t otal 150.60, this would include the cost for four tubes, seconded by Clark, the roll was called and votes w ere as follows: H. Young moved that Bill No. D-b4-20being bill providing for the appropriation o8 money out of the general fund of the City of Riverside, Missouri for the payment of certain indebtednesses as listed therein be
