OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN
CITY OF RIVERSIDE,
MISSOURI
May 12,1964
A special meeting of the Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside,
Missouri hwas held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on May 12, 1964,
at 7:30 p.m. and upon a roll call, aldermen H. Brenner, Clark, Mayors,
Swetnam and Young were present, H. Brenner absent and Mayor Filger
calling said meeting to order.
The purpose of the special meeting was to work out the
problem of the ordinances pertaining to dogs and the agreement with
Wayside Waifs; the leasing of the Ball Park and road to ball park.
The Agreement with Wayside Waifs was read and also the
latest dog ordinance.

H. Brenner moved that the minimum fine be $1.00 and the
ordinance be so changed or amended, Cork seconded the motion, the
roll was called and votes were as follows: H. Brenner-aye; W. Brenner-
absent; Clark-aye; Majors-aye; Swetnam-aye; and Young-aye;
It was agreed to have Mrs. Webster come to our next meeting
Tuesday, May lg, 1964, if at all possible to discuss the agreement
with her and advise of the present problems that have come up with
regard to their employee coming into Riverside and giving tickets
to owners of dogs who do not have license. It was brought up that
the employee also gave tickets for other reasons than to citizens of
Riverside who did not have the dog license and that only 18 do s were
actually taken in. There was also the matter of whether they the Wayside
Waifs) had proper insurance to cover their employee and anyone whop
would be with them in the car and to save harmless the City of Rivs~.de
from all claims, and Riverside should be furnished with such copy
insurance policy. Our main problem was to get rid of the dogs runni~ig
in packs and ones doing property damage.

It was agreed to chan a the cost of the dog license from ,
$ 00 and 3 00 to 1.~0 and $1.50, this, of course ~~,

would not become effective until the new license is due in January, ~,
Upon motion by Young that the amounts of the license be so changed, °
and seconded by A. Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows:
H.Brenner-aye; W. Brenner-absent; Clark-aye; Ma.,jors-aye; Swetnam-aye;
and Young-aye./
It was agreed that the City should have Mrs. Webster of the
Wayside Waifs come to the next meeting on Tuesday, May 19, 1964 and
talk over the problem with her.
It was agreed to lease the City ball diamond to the Platte
County Baseball league for the snm of $1.00 per year on a year to year
basis; That the players, spectators, etc. are not to use the City
Hall building whatsoever; That they are to furnish their own rest
room facilities; that they are to use the road which will be constructed
on the west property line of the City; that they are to furnish City
of Riverside with certificate of insurance, holding City harmless
from all claims, injuries, etc. to their players, representatives,
spectators, etc.; Mr. Dorsey to draw up contract and have it to City
by Tuesday, May 19, 1964.
H. Brenner moved that a road be constructed on the west City
property line for the purpose to serve the ball diamond; that the road
to be graded, crowned, and graveled and that the proper culvert be
placed ~n the entraroe as suggested by the building inspector; that
the south portion of the road be not further than 50 feet beyond the
paved and curbed parking space south of City Hall building, seconded by
Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as follows: H. Brenner-aye;
W. Brenner-a~e~nt; Clark-aye; Majors-aye; Swetnam aye; and Young-aye.

The matter of having a committee look over all building
applications and plans before they reach the council was discussed. Zic

S x k~€x lso the matter of roads was brought up; that is the ones
built by private parties. That the City Engineer has to look over the
plans and construct in of the road before it is completed; and be notified
when the plans are being made so he can instruct ,just how the road is
to be made.
H. Brenner mo*ed that meeting adjourn, seconded by Clark,
meeting adjourned.
