ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE
MISSOURI
riinutes of special meeting of Bo::°rd of Aldermen of City of
Riverside held August 10, 1963 at 11:00 a.m. in the City Hall and
upon a roll call, aldermen H. Brenner, W. Erenne~; Clark; Owens;
Swetnam; and Young were present, Mayor Filgercalling said meeting
to order.
Mayor Filger stating tree purpose of tt8s meeting to try to
work out somefl~S.ng with Kansas City and also Missouri Cities Water
company with regard to furnishing water for the City of Riverside.
City Attorney 'orsey advised he had to lked to A;r. Hopkins
of Kansas City 'vdater Works and the City did not antact him or
try to solicit Riversides business, but in their conversation
thought Riverside would be interested in purchasing the lines
which are in Riverside from rii;_souri Cities and then perhaps
Riverside could work out something with Kans.~.s City °or them to
furnisP. Riverside with water; or thought perhaps several of the
communities in the surrounding area would be interested in
obtaining or purchasing Missouri Cities Water Co. if that could
be worked out. Before any of the amreements orcontracts are
started, an engineer should look over the matter and see what kind
of money would be involved. Black and Veach did the engineering
_ for Kans-s City. with regard to the repairs, if the Trotter was
worked out with Kansas CitS•, the major maintenance and repairs
would be contracted with Kansas City at just cost basis.
Hoover if Kansas City should have a shortage of water, it would
have to serve its own citizens i'irst. They would charge the
Citv of Riverside on the same basis it does the other municipalities.
It is understood that Kans~=s City would possibly have to build
lines parallel to the lines in Riverside and if the City of Riverside
purch ^.sed the lines, then maybe KC wouldnot have to p~lace~~the lines.
It ispossible if Riverside took over the lines within the City
limits, the price of ~-ater might be less, however before anything
could be done, the City of Riverside would have to get the price
of wh_.t the City was talking about. It mir~ht be less costly to
purchase the lines already within the city than install all new
lines.
H. Brenner moved that the City authorize aTr. Dorsey to
take the necessary steps to prepare for the hearing at Jefferson
City with regard to th• complaint filed that Nos sours Cities pater
Corripany was not g'oviding adequate water f aeilities to the Citizans
of Riverside and that lair. Dorsey protect the City~s rights and
repressnt it 100,°x, seconded by Clark, the roll was cal.~ed and s~.l;l~$oted

to put in own lines and how much it would take to inst.:all lines to
provide c,~ater to remaining of city which has no water, seconded by
W, Brenner, roll was called anu all voted in favor with the
exception of Young and he voted Yes only after the cost oP the engineers
s~ould be gotten before the information was obtained. Everyone agreed
a figure should be gotten fr~~m Black and Veach as to what they would
charge for their services.

to get their reaction on going together and purchasing the Missouri
Cities 6Jater G~mpany, sec:%nded by H. Brenner, the roll was called
