ORDINANCE N0.2008-31
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE RIVERSIDE HEALTHY EMPLOYEE
INITIATIVE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen in charged with protecting the public health,
safety and general welfare of the employees of the City of Riverside; and
WHEREAS, in an attempt to carry out this duty, the Board of Aldermen and the
City have created the Riverside Healthy Employee Initiative Program (the "Program"),
the purpose of which is to allow the employees of the City to participate in health,
wellness and physical recreation activities.
NOW, THEREFOR, be it ordained by the Board of Aldermen of the City of
Riverside, Missouri, and follow:
Section 1. The City shall establish the Program to allow employees of the City to
obtain membership in the Platte County Community Center or the North Kansas City
Community Center, with the City contributing 75% of the cost and the employee
participating in the Program paying 25% of the cost.
Section 2. The City shall enter into an agreement with the Platte County
Community Center and the North Kansas City Community Center providing for the
payment of application and membership fees, verification of residency, and collection of
usage data.
Section 3. The City Administration and City Staff are hereby authorized to
perform all the acts and execute any other documents necessary or desirable to effectuate
the intent of this Ordinance.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.

FHtST ADDENDUM TO
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
RIVERSIDE HEALTHY CITIZENS INITIATIVE
THIS FIItST ADDENDUM TO MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR THE
RIVERSID HEALTHY CITIZEN INITIATIVE is made as of this _L day of
2008, by and among the City of Riverside, Missouri (the "City"), and the
Yo Men's Christian Association of Greater Kansas City (the "YMCA").
WHEREAS, the City and YMCA entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for the
Riverside Healthy Citizen Initiative as of May 14, 2007 (the "Memorandum"); and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to expand the program to include all full-time employees of
the City and their families, and the YMCA is willing to extend the program to these
employees and families on the same basis as extended to the residents of the City under
the Memorandum.
NOW, THEREFORE, to memorialize the fundamental understandings of the Parties
hereto in connection with this program for the City; the parties hereby agree as follows:
The City of Riverside will subsidize all participating Riverside employees'
monthly membership fees and joining fees, and the YMCA will charge and
collect for fees and provide usage reports to the City, in the same manner as set
forth in the Memorandum.
The YMCA shall not be required to provide to the City any information
pertaining to residency verification. Upon receiving an application, tJie YMCA
shall verify employment with the City by contacting ~-/~,~,~,,,~~~~„~ ~
Upon termination of employment, the City shall notify the YMCA, and the City
subsidy will cease at the end of the current membership term of the. employee.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have caused this Memorandum to be executed as
of the dates set forth after each of their representative signatures.
