Board of Aldermen of City
of Riverside, Missouri
October 3, 1961
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of City of River-
side, Missouri was held in the City :-Ia7.1 in Rivers'Ld~, Missouri on
October 3, 1961, at 8:00 p.rr.. and upon a roll call, Aldermen H. Brenner;
W. Brenner; Clerk; Nelson; Swetnan and Young were present, Mayor Filger
calling said meeting to girder.

Collectors report for mont'r~ of September, 1961, read and
accepted as read.
N elson reported on the cutting; of brush on High Drive
and stated he contacted Newmeyer and received letter permit from
M rs, Newmeyer, but so far he has gotten~no reply from Mr. Yearington.
As to the drain-~;e problem on Highdrive where South Road Enters said
Highdrive, it was decided everyone on road committee should see the
roads and where the drain would empty if a culvert were placed under
South road ar.d they would try to work out the problem..
It was decided to give Se rcy p:;rmission to install
culverts i~~3~ road on Hit~;hdrive in Northwood acres, same to be not less
12 inches] t~ ~ ghdrive or the road west of his h:use.: and they
.were to be not more than 5 feet from Searcy~s property line and
on Searcy's north property line, the culverts are to be not less
than 18 inches in diameter and not more than five feet f rorxi Scarcy~s
property line.
Clark reported the Northwood road approach from
45 Highway and at the top of the hill *.ahere it turns northward,
needs either blacktop:~irAg, oi.lirg or gravel ~ d stated Booth told
her it would cost 150100 for blacktopping. Clark stated the Special
Road nist:_ct would pa'y 1~2.
Clark moved that Bill No. 206-R~„being bill repealing
Ordinance No. 2~6-2 of the City of Riverside, Missouri and enacting
in lieu thereof an ordinance prohibiting vehicles other than passenger
iehicles on boulevards in the City of Riverside, Missouri, establishing and
designating boulevards in the City of Riverside, Missouri, and pro-
' viding penalty for the violation tae re of be placed on its first reading,
seconded by W. ??renner, the roll was called and votes were as follows:

Nelson moved that rules bee suspended and Bill No. 206-Rj.be
pl:>ced on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ord.
No. 206R3, seconded by Clark, the roll was called and votes were as
follows: H.Brenser-dye; W.Brenner-afire; Clark-aye; Nelson-ayes Swetram-aye;
Young-aye; Bill No. 206R~ was accordingly read and became Ord. No. 206-R~
after approval by P-7ayor Filger.
Niar~rall Davis advised he received complaint from Mr. and
Nirs. i'anus regard^ng cars parking on Valley Lane, ar.d upon motion by
Young that the City purchase two signs ~a~~.ng "NO PPRKING ON THIS SIDE"
and the said signs be installed on Valley Lane, seconded by ;i. Brenner,
the roll was cal led and gall voted in, favor.
Nelson moved that the City pay their portion to have
Northwood road repaired, said portion not to exceed ~p75.00, whether
the road be blacktorped or oiled ar.d that two or three loads of
crusher run roek be placed on Norwood Road where it had been repaircl,
seconded by :?. Brarner, the Roll v, as called and all voted 9_n favor.

Young moved that the Police Depart~7ient hs~~e permission to
purchase 18 neck ties, box of gun shells for their guns; 1 dozen shoulder
patches and 1 winter shirt, also have two guns blued, seconded by
Belson, the roll. was called and all voted in favor.
r?elson moved that Bill T_vo. 171R1 'c,eing bill regaling
Ord 9_nance No. 171 of the City of Riverside, Missouri and enacti.rg
in lieu thereof an ordinance prescribing definitions, rules. and
reg:zlations for the operation of trailer parks in the City of Riverside;
making provision for permits and applications therefor and providing
a penalty for violation of the terms of said ordinance, seconded by

Young moved that whenever the City of Riverside, Missouri's
genera 1 fund is dt legst_.~~'Og0 in excess of p10, 000 vahich we sh_;uld
try to maintain, then all in excess of $10,000 should be trans rred
to the savings accounts seconded by Cl^~, the roll was called and
all voted in favor.
H. Brenner moved that Bill No. 241R1 being bill repealing
Ordinance NoT 241:: of the City of Riverside and enacting in lieu thereof
provisions prohibiting the transfer or assignment of licenses or
assignments issued by the City of Riverside, Missouri, becp3aced~~pn its
first reading, seconded by Clark, the roll was called and votes were as

Swetnam moved that the Police Committee's report on
Austin C, copper as Ax. Policeman be accepted, seconded by H. Brenner,
the roll was c~lled and all voted i.n favor.
Tdelson moved that the road in front of City Mall Build°ng
bein~~ High Drive be ditched on the right of way which was dedded to
City Recently and th.^t the ditches be tern-ced, in other words widen
the road as it should be, seconded by I3. Brenner, the roll was called
and all voted in favor.
Swetnam moved that Bill No. D61-18 being bill providing for
the appropriation, of mone;r out of the gcner<,l fund of t~:e Cityy of
Riverside, Missouri for the nayrrent of certain indebtedness as listed
therein be placed on i.ts first reading, seconded by H. Brenner, the roll
teas ca:'.]_ed and votes wire as follows: H.Brenner-aye; `s~J.Brenr.er•-aye;

The council agreed upon accepting the lowest bid for a new
police car, said bid being that of Motor Mart for new 1962 Chevrolet
Belaire 2 Dr. 8 cylir_der with Fresh ~,ir He-?ter, Windshield
Wssher, Spotlight, ~:ir Cleaner and Cil Filter for a difference with
1961 Chev. 2 Dr. trade in of ~9?0.00, t'riis includes the
transfer of ea,:aiprrent, ex -lusive of r^.dio from the old 1961.Chev.
H.Pre rer moved that meeting adjourn, seconded by ~d.Brenncr, meeting
adjourned.
