HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-08-01MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI AUGUST L, 161 A regular meeting of the board of aldermen of City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on August 1, 1861, at 8:00 p.m. and upon a roll call, aldermen H. Brenner, W. Brenner Clark, Nelson, Young were present, Swetnam absent, and Mayor Filger calling said meeting to order. Mrs. Kloster who resides in the first house north. of Prince Trailer Court, North Wood Acres, asked for permission to open a beauty shop in her house, she was advised this was not zoned for business and therefore permission could not be given her for the beauty shop. William J. Wilson requested permission to get a temporary water line from Warren Brenner's property to his apartment buildings as: the water company will not install an 8" line until 8 a~tment buildings are completed. The council advised Wilson that the City will have to have a written commitment from the water company stating they will install an 8" water line to his apartments and when they plan on doing same. This Commitment is necessary before permission can be given Wilson to get a temporary w.~erline from Brenner. Road Chairman Clark reported it would cost $518.70 to repair South Road if the road were scarified by other that Booth, and if Booth were to do all the work, it would coat $627.80. Vandipopulier Road would cost 90.63 for the rgair of it; Norwood Avenue would cost $100.00 for its repair, with motion by Nelson that the foregoing road maintenance be approved and thaSs°a. Pavb~ be put on Northwood road(The Special Road district to pay half also the Special Road District to ' blade all gravel roads in Riverside, seconded by H. Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: H.Brenner-aye; W. Brenner-aye; Clark-ale; Nelson-aye; Young-aye; and Swetnam absent. H. Brenner moved that the Northwood Acres Extension Club be given permission to use the City Hall Building once a month for its meetings under the supervision of the Police Department, seconded by W. Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: H.Brenner-aye; W.Brenner-aye; Clark-aye; Nelson-aye; Sw~nam-absent; and Young-aye. Mayor Filger reported that Kalivas wanted permission from the council to construct a lagoon for his apartments buildings which he plans to bu~~ ~ , 1 ~~ ~ ~~ "'The sub-division plans were .presented by individuals for approval; this matter was discussed and more information was to be obtained regarding size of lots, etc. before these could be approved. Clark moved that Vincent Fate's applicatin for 4 unit apartment be approved; and Robert Breen's application for apartment buildings be approved, secondedby H. Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: H.-Brenner-aye; W. Brenner-aye; Nelson-aye; Clark-aye; Swetnam-absent; and Young-aye. Bill No. ~ ~i being bill for Clark moved that/the Secretary to Council's salary be increased and that same be placed on its first reading said salary to be $65.00 per month., beginning August 1, 1861, seconded by Nelson, the roll was called and votes were as follows: H.Brenner-aye; W.Brenner-aye; Clark-aye; Nelson-aye; Swetnam-absent and Young-aye; and Bill No .;s~"~, was accordingly read . H. Brenner moved that rules be suspended and Bill No.i~~=-~ be placed on its second reading, seconded by Nelson, the roll was called and votew were as follows: Clark-aye; H. Brenner-aye; ~I.Brenner-aye; Swetnam-a~eent; Nelson-aye; and Young-aye.; bill No. was accordingly read. Nelson moved that rules be suspended and bill No !/jar be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ord. It was suggested to write Mrs. Nelms a letter of thanks fer allowing the city to obtain dirt from her property to fill in Norwood Road, It was understood that Mr. Wilson who was building the apartments across from City Hall i~as going to change his plans on building his roads, and a letter should be written him advising that any such. changes had to be approved iog the Board of Aldermen, or City. Nelson moved that Bill No. D-61-14 being bill providing for the appropriation of money out of the general fund of the City of Riverside forythe payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein to certain employes and creditors be placed on its first reading, seconded by H. Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; H. Brenner-aye; W, Brenner-aye; Nelson-aye; Swetnam-absent; Young-aye; and Bill No. D-61-14 was accordingly read. H. Brenner moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. D-61-14 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Nelson, the roll was called and votes were as follows: H..Brenner-ayel W. Brenner-aye; Clark-aye; Nelson-aye; Swetnam-absent; Young-aye; and Bill No. D-61-14 was accordingly read. Clark moved that rules be suspended and Bill No, D-61-14 be placed on its third reading andlupon passage of same become Ord. No. D-61-14, seconded by Nelson, the roll was called and votes were as follows: H. Brenner-aye; W.Brennera-ye; Nelson-aye; 81ark-aye; Swetnam-absent; Young-aye;, Bill No. D-61-14 was accordingly read, approved by Mayor Filger and became Ordinance No. D-61-14, Nelson moved meeting adjourn, seconded by H.
