Minutes of t{egu7ar Meeting
of Board of
Aldermen of City of
Riverside, Mo.
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of City of River-
side, Missouri was held i_n the City Hall in Riverside, N[issouri at 8:00
p.m. May 16, 1961, upon a roll call, aldermen II. Brenner; Clerk; Swetnam;
and Young were present, W. Brenner and IvTelson Absent and Mayor Filger
calling said meetin:; to order.
Mr. Stock of Bonded 'nlrecking Company requested ~_icense for
used lumber yard on Renner property on 1.15 Highway, s9.nce this particular
type of business would not be in proper zone, he was advised the procedure
for hi.m to follow would be to write letter to Council describing the
property and what he wanted it rezoned to, this would the r, be forwarded
to the zoning Board for their furtrier handling.
Asst. Chief of Police Perrino requested for permission to
purchase filing cabinet for 2xL1 filing cards and Lt. Clerk asked for
permission to purchase light for police car, @lark stated could sell
the present light for ~35.~0 and can buy a used light from Deuty Sheriff
Crane for X60.00 which is approximately two or three years old.
Young moved that the City purchase the filing; cabinet for the
police department to hold the 2xL1 cards and also the police car light,
seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as f ollows:
ii. Brenner-aye; W. Brenner-absent; Clark-aye; D?elson-e.bsent; Swetnam-aye
and Young-aye.
A discussion was had with rag<^. rd to the road in Indian Mills,
as the water was was':ing places on the private property, some of the people
were willing to pay for the curbing of the road in front of their
property and some wanted to pay off the cost of such work over a period
of three years. Mr. Booth wrote the Chairman of the Road Committee,
Mrs. Clark and advised there were two ways to repair the road, one way
was to repair the road as follows: Put in the curbs and build the drains
to slow the flow of water. This plan is, hol,~ever themost costly.
The second plan would be to back fill the ditches of the road and add
a water check to slow the flow of water. Also the road should have
a LI ft, shoulder and the drain in Sawyers drain should be taken out and
a ~5tf the put in. Several suggestions were made, perhaps the road be
paved by the City and the proper ty owners pay for their tiles and curbing,
but no definite plans were made. This matter would be investigated
further.
Young moved that M r. Dorsey be contacted with regard to
drawing up ordinance wherein no person, firm or corporation can perform
any work on the City Streets without the approval of the City Engineer
or the Engineering department, seconded by Clark, the roll was called
and votes were as follovrs: H Brenner aye; W. Brenner-absent; Clark-aye;
Nelson-absent; Swetnam;-aye; and young-aye.
Clark moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. D-61-10 being
bill providing for the appropriation of money out of the General Fund
of the City of Riverside, N1i:souri for the payment of certain indebtedness
to employees and creditors as listed therein be placed on its first reading,
seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as follows:
H Brenner-aye; W. Brenner-absent; Clark-~+ve; Nelson-absent; Swetnam-aye;
Young-aye; Bill No. D-61-10 was accordingly read.
Clark moved that rules be susp~ded =nd Bill No. D-61-10 be placed
on it s second reading, seconded by H. Bfenner, the roll was called and
votes were as follows:H. Brenner-aye; W. Brenner-absent; Clerk-aye;
Nelson-absent; Swetnam-aye; Young-aye.
Clark moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. D-61-10 be
.aced on its third reading and upon passage of same bedome Ordinance
A`o. D-61-10, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as
follows: II.Brenner-aye; W. Brenner-absent; Clark-aye; Nelson-absent;
6t~etnam-aye; and Young-aye, Bill No. D-61-10 was accordingly read, approved by
Mayor Filger and became Ord. No. D-61-10, se
Clark moved meeting adjourn, seconded by Swc~tnan meeting adjourned.
