of Board of Aldermen of
City of Riverside, Mo.
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside,
Missouri was held in the 91ty Hall in Riverside, Missouri on May 2,
1861, at'8s00~p:gym. and upon a roll call, aldermen H. Brenner; W. Brenner;
Clark; Nelson, Swetnam; and Young were present, Mayor Filger calling
said meeting to order.
Minutes of April 18, 1961 were read and correcting the
portion with regard to " putting approximately $500.00 per lot
in escrow" ~c~r':"bui3;didg roads in Seven Oaks Addition, the minutes
were then accepted as read.
Mr. Ed Carroll explained what coverage employes who came under
Workmen's Compensation Act received. Only employes not elected would
come under Workmen's Compensation. If a person receives an injury
while on duty. (which has to result from an accident) he can receive
2/3 of his average weekly salary, which is computed from approximately
one ear previous to the accident; however the maximum weitly benefits
are 45.00, and the minimum is $16.00 per week, making no difference
how small the salary is. If an employee receives a permanent disability,
from the injury his benefits are then computed on the basis of $40.00
per week, depending upon the percentage ~~rt~~e{~ j~~~~b~~~~de tT~et~~wemnployer
requires the injury has to be reported i n ys a o c a1 ca
be made after one year has elapsed from his last medical attention
which he received. All medical expense is paid for; however the employer
has the right to select th.e physician or agree upon one; and if the
employe selects his own physician without the consent of the employer,
the employe is responsible for the medical bill. The employer should agree upon
a doctor in advance who is to be used by its empLyes.
Mr. Hornback stated he would like to operate Green Terrace
Trailer Park and inquired with regard to ordinance on same. He was
given copy of the ordinance and was to report back with his opinion
of same and also report on the sewage system and get Mr. Charles to
look over same and his advice.
Ernest McFarland inquired with regard to zoning on certain
property south of Northwood acres, he was advised it was for houses
and duplexes;however his deed restricted it otherwise and this was
not a problem of the City's.
Mrs. Payne, party who purchased a lot from Mr. Pease in
`Seven Oaks addition inquieed with regard to obtaining a building permit;
_ also inquired regarding the roads; She was advised that something probably
could be worked out with regard to the roads; but until then she could
not obtain a building permit. It was suggested that she see Mr. Pease
and tell him we were willing to try to work out the matter of paving the
roads and that he should see the Council.
Treasurer's report for month of March, 1861 was read and
accepted as read.
Clark moved that all business t6anufacturing concrete products
pay a business license of $100.00 per year, seconded by H.Brenner, the
roll was called and all:::vo~sed in favor.

The mayor advised the zoning board onsisted of the following:
John Blogin; Louise Davis; Nadine Sawyer; Mr. Bickelmeyer; and Florence
Gussewell; - and the Ad,~ustment board consisted of the following
Leslie Renner; Paul Owns; Noel DeConick; Vern Hagler and Mr. Peterson.
Swetnam moved that Bill No. 199-5 being bill providing for the
hiring of policemen; that they receive a minimum salary of $1.00 per month
nd said policemen to be Walter Strain; Jack Pari~;`~`11 Paris; Frank Barnes;
arry Barnes;&William Hitch and said employment to begin as of May 1, 1861;
seconded by Nelson, the roll was called and votes were as follows:

Bill No. 199-5 was accordingly read.
