HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-10-18Regular Meeting of Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside, Missouri October 18, 1960 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, October 18, 1960, at 8:00 p.m. and upon a roll call, al dermen Clark, Klemm, Swetnam and Young were present, Nelson and McKeon, absent and NIa~;;or Filger calling said meeting to order. Minutes of meeting of October !E, 1960 were read and accepted as read, Treasurer's report for month of September, 1960 was read and accepted as read. Mr. Gardner, Lessee of Green Terrace Trailer Court asked the council dust what heshould do with regard to bringing his trailer court up to specification of Ordinance, a s he said his letter he received was not definite enough, but he was advised to read the Ordinance and it stated the regulations of a trailer court and hecould go by the ordinance as to what he was violating in operating the trailer court as it is, also that the hearing with regard to that trailer court would be held Tuesday, November 1, 1960 as stated in the letter and all these matters could be gone over, as to what has been corrected and what he anticipated to do to correct other matters. Mr. Pierson presented application to build garage and same was approved by Klemm, Swetnam, Young and Clark. Young moved that the insurance agent ge written requesting the advice as to what policies the City has and what the policies cover, also ~ y suggest~d~nsstheymight have for further coverage, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-eye; Klemm aye; Nelson-absent; McKeon-absent; Young-aye; and Swetnam-aye;. Clark reported she contacted Mr. Miller of the special road district with regard to the removal of the brush from along the right of way add stated a bull-dozer would ruin the black top roads; the only way would be by man power and thought it would hot be cheap. Klemm moved that the City request Kansas City Power & Light Company to submit an ordinance for Cityts approval to extend the Mercury vapor type lamps as suggested in their letter of October 17, 1960 to the north City limits on U. S. 71 which should include a survey of adding extra lights to the Junctions 69-71 and 71-45 Highways, seconded by Clark, the roll wane alled and v otes were as follows: Clark-aye; Klemm-aye Nelson-absent; McKeon-absent; Swetnam-aye; and Young-aye. Klemm moved that the police department be given authority to purchase police car radio for their use, seconded by Swetnam- the roll was called and votes w~~e as follows: Clark-aye; Klemm-aye; Nelson-absent; Swetnam-eye; McKeon-absent; and Young-aye; Klammmoved that Bill No. 326-A-2 being bill providing for the repealing of Ordinance 326A1 and enacting in lieu thereof an ordinance relating to persons, firms, companies or corporations now or hereafter engaged in the bus ness of furnishing exchange telephone service in the Cityof Riverside, Missouri and providing for an annual occupation license fee to be paid by such persons, firms, companies or corporations, ~iecp3aie®dLy~n';=itsrc~irst reading, seconded by Clark the roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; Klemm-aye; Nelson-absent; McKeon-absent; Swetnam-aye; Young aye;- and Bill No. 326A2 was accordingly read. Clark moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. 326A2 be placed on its seconded reading, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; Klemm-aye; Nelson-absent; 1"jcKeon-absent; Swetnam-aye; Young-aye; and Bill No. 326A2 was accordingly read. Klemm moved that rubs be suspended and Bi11 No. 326A2 be placed on its third reading and if same be Messed become Ord. No. 326A2, seconded by Clark, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; Klemm-aye; Nelson-absent; McKeon-absent; Shetram-aye; and Youn -aye; Bill No. 326A2 was accordingly read, ap proved by Mayor Fi~ger and became Ordl No. 326A2. Meeting Oct. 1~3, 1960 Page 2 Klamm moved that Bill No. 342 being Bill authorizing representatives of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri to negotiate with the own rs of land ab~.tting Brenner Road (Plated as Northwood Road) for the conveyance of land to b e used for the purpose of widening Brenner Road and authorizing terms for such negotiation subject to correcting the name of the road, and if possible would like to see it named in accordance with the name of street name placed thereon namely High Drive, seconded by Clark, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; Klamm-aye; Nelson-absent; McKeon-absent; Swetnam-aye; Young aye; Bill No. 342 was accordingly read. Clark moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. 342 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Swetnaa, the roll was called and votes were as follows: C1a rk-aye; Klamm-sye; Nelson-absent; McKeon-absent; Young-aye; and Swetnam; Bill Not 3$2 was accordingly read. Klamm moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. 342 be placed on its third rea ding and upon passage of same become Ord. No. 342, seconded by Clark, the roll was called and votes w re as follows: Clark-aye; Klamm-aye; Nelson absent; McKeon-absent; Swetnam-aye; Yojng-aye; Bill No. 342 was a ecordingly read, approved by Mayor Filger and became Ord. A-6a=19' being bill providing for the appropriation of money from the General Funds of the City of Riverside to be paid to certain creditors and employees as listed there on be placed on its first (reading, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; Nelson-absent; Klamm-aye; McKeoneaye; Swetnam-aye; and Young-aye. rules be suspended and Blatam moved that~Bill No. D-h0-19 be placed on its second read3_ng, seconded by Clark, the roll was called and votes w ere as follows: Clx k-aye; Klamm-aye; Nelson-absent; McKeon-absent; Swetnam-aye; and Young-aye. No. D-60-19, seconded by Clark, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; Klamm-aye; Nelson-absent; Swetnam-ale; McKeon-absent; and Young-aye. - Klamm moved that Wesley M. Pierson~s application for garage be approved and Dorothy Steidtmanis business application for steak house be approved, seconded by Clark, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; Klamm-aye; Nelson-absent; Swetnam-aye; McKeon-absent; and Young-aye. Ho:.ever with regard to the ordinance you drew up changing the zoning in Riversides I have rot incl ud®d same in the minu+es as it was an error op my pArt that this one reque4t for rezoning was not advertised in the paper and a hearing of the Board of A1<'.ermen had, ~ d I will so advia~ them at the meeting Tuesday, If I am not handling this correctly, please advise. You probably remember t!~is ordinance also s^ould be corr~eted to dust include the City of Riversides east city ,.limits, but I will return it after the Board of Aldermen have handed down their reeor_mendation.
