December 3, 1957
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of
Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in River-side, P~"assouri
December 3, 1957 at 8:00 p.m. Upon a roll call, aldermen Clark,
K]a mm, Scrivner and Young present, Nelson and McKeon absent.
Mr. Holloway of Parkville Water Company was present
andstated the recent Ord. No. 287, a copy of which he received,
did not give them enough time to actually figure the percentage
required therein to be paid the City of Riverside for their business
license and that their company caould prefer paying a set amount monthly
as had been done previously. The council advised Mr. Holloway they would
like to review this matter and wou7Ld let him know later.
Mr. Clark spoke with regard to betting Riverside to cooperate
with the R-5 District in the Givil Defense and asked that what they
were interested in was mostly getting the children from the school
at Brenner Ridge to a safe place, ma~ely in a northerly direction and
this would require tranaportati~n for them, that is in the case of an
air attack. He was advised thet a committee would be appointed to work
with them.
Mr. Reneer of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Oompa ny
spoke with regard to their company changing the different zones,
ena~lin~ pe~p~e in certain zones to call longer distances at no
extra cost other than when this new set up would go into effect,
then it would increase everyone~s rates who were included in
the area. He also requested that the telephone company would
rather apy their city business license on a set amount rather than
5~ of the income they redeived from the telep'nones in Riverside,
and he was advised this would be discussed further and he would be
advised accordingly.

Scrivner moved that 19 loads of gravel be ordered the
roads in riverside as follows: 6 loads for5outh Road, l.E loads on
Green~a Trailer road, 6 for the bottom roads, and three on road to
Brenco apts., seconded by Young, the roll was called and votes were
as follows: Clark-aye; Klemm-aye; Nelson-absent; Scrivner-sye;
McKeon-aye; and Young-aye;
Clark moved that the petition for the vacatin of San Jacinto
Avenue in Rex X Plaza in Riverside be published in the paper and
that the hearinS~ for the discontinuance of the road be set for the
first Tuesday in January and at 7:00 p.m., seconded by Klemm, the
roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; Klarrsn-aye;
Scrivner-aye; Nelson-absent; McKeon-aye and Young-eyel
Upon motion by Scrivner that rules be suspended and
Bill No. 302 b e placed on its first read~sng, said bill providing for
the hiring of Fritz Clark as Clerk of the Polic® Court to the vacancy
of Mrs. L. Davis for the period of Mrs. Davis absence and that
she be paid the same salary, X20.00 per month for her services,
seconded by Klemm, the roll was called and votes were as follows:
Clark-aye; Klemm-aye; Nelson-a~reent; Scrivner-aye; McKeon-aye;
and Young-aye; Bill No. 302 was then accordingly read.

Klemm moved that rules be suspended and Bill No.302 be
placed on its third reading, and~~a~taat and if same be passed it become
Ord. No. 302, seconded by Clark, the roll was ca7Led and votes were as
follows: Clak-aye; Klamrr-aye; Scrivner-aye; Nelson-absent; McKeon-aye;
Younh-aye; and Bill No. 302 was accordingly read, approved by Mayor
Filger and became Ord. No. 302.

The police committee reported that the/hiring of another
full time policeman be put off a while longer until more research
be given the aoa~ts~e situation.
Scrivner moved that Bill No. 303 being bill providing for
the a~?propriation of ~s out of-the general fund of the @ity of
Riverside as follows:

Clerk moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. 303 be
placed on its second reading, seconded by Scrivnet, the roll was called
and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; Klamm-eye; Nelson-absent;

accordingly read.
Scrivnermoved that rules be suspended and Bill No. 303 be
placed orits t ird reading and upon passage of same become Ord No. 303,
seconded by Clark the roll was called and votes were as follows:
Clark-a~ae; Klamm-aya; Nelson-absent; Scrivner-aye; McKeon-aye;
Young-aye; and Bill No. 303 was accordingly read, approved by
Mayor Filger ax3 became Ordl No. 303.
