Bo and of Aldermen of City of
Riverside, Missouri
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of
Riverside, Missouri was held May 3, 1955 at the City Hall in Riverside
Missouri and upon a roll call, Aldermen, Clark, Klamm, Nelson, Scrivner,
ax~i Traugott, and Young were present, Mayor Filger calling said meeting
to order.

Minutes of meeting of April 19 were read and approved as
Collector's report for April, 1955 was read.
Thereupon Young moved that we approve the Vapotane Co.'s
application for business building, but due to the fact of possible
potential hazards of this type buainess which are unknown to the council,
the permit befor 120 days or until August 31, 1955 and if there were
no complaints, then perhaps the permit would be extended, Second by Clark
the roll was called and all voted in favor.
Mr. Jason Jones spoke regarding the R5 Summer Recreatirmn
Program and asked the City for donation. Mr. Jones was assured by the
council that he could count of a donation from Riverside, but the would
be arrived at later on in the meeting. It was then decided and agreed
lzpon by the council to make a cont ibution of vxv~~200.00 to the #5 Summer
Recreation Program J~.~~ is ~ ~-~; o~~~i.
Young brought up the subject that he has been asked many
times by a certain firm if he would let them install a self-serving
ice h:;use. He stated he would like to have this type of business,
but if it cause people to comphin about it he would not have the firm
install said ice-house, but on the other hand if other places in

allowed to have same, e counci se ed o agree here would '~e
no objections especially if the;;-buildings were l~pt up.
Scrivner reported on road in Northwood Acres; he had
talked to property a1 ne rs where the City had anticipated widening
road, and there were several ~ operty owners who would not consent
to giving 10 feet for the right of way. The council then thought it
would be best to patch up the road, but to get bids from two companys
beBore consenting one of the companys to do the wort.
A pct e from Rural Mail Carrier Burrechter was read
regarding the city to patch up the roots in front of the mail boxes
in iiverside.
Also the subject of the special road district of Platte
Co~_mty waaegoing to have their meeting in Parkville, May 7, 1955
and it was requested the Road Committee attend.
Thereupon Young reported on the Police Committee, stating
since Clark r~=signed and Atwell and i~Jheeler were doing all the work,
they have had several applicants, but NIr. Thomas Malone, who had
experience in this type of work w~~.s chosen and hired as Policeman
for Riverside, fors al r~~,,Pfy~260.00 per month, 2t} hour a day call,

Thereupon Young moved that Bill No. 190 being a bill
levying a license tax to be paid by all pe rsons, firms, or corpm ations
en gaged in the businessof supplying water to residential, commerci al
and industrial users within the city of Riversi de, Missouri, providing
for the method and time ofpaying said tax, and p? oviding penalty for

Thereupon Klamm moved that/Bill No. 190 be placed on its
second reading, second by Nelson, the roll was called and votes were

Thereupon Yong moved that rules be suspended and Bill i+To. 190
be placed on its third reading and upon passage of scene become Ord. No. 1~9
second by Klamm, the roll was called and votes were as follows:
Clark-aye; Klamm-aye; Scrivner-aye; Nelson-a~je; Traugott;aye; Young-aye;
and Bill 'v'o, 190 was accordingly read, approved by Mayor i~i.lger and
became Ord. No. 189.
Thereupon Klarmn moved that Bill No. 191 being a bill
hiring Thomas Ma~d~ne as policeman in Rive rsi de for a s a1~ry~~60, 00
per month, to be on call 21.E hrs, per day, 6 days a week, e p iced on
its first reading, second by Clark, the ~ 11 was called and votes
ere as follows: Clark-aye; Klamm-ayes. Nelson-aye; Scrivner-aye;
Traugott-aye; and Young-aye; and Bill No. 191 was accordingly read.
Thereupon Nelson mw ed that rules be suspended and
Bill No. 191 be placedon its second reading, second by Scrivner,
the roll w,s called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; Klamm-aye;
Nelson-aye; Scrivner-aye; Traugo tt-aye; and Young-aye; and Bill No. 191
was accordingly r ea d.
Thereupon Klamm moved th at rules be su~ended and Bill No. 191
be placed on its third reading and upon passage of scene become Ord, No. 190
second by Clark, the roll was called and votes were as fb llows:
Clark-afire; Klamm-aye; Nelson-aye; Scrivre r-aye; Traugott-aye; and
Young-aye; Bill No. X91 was accordin gly read, approved by Mayor Filger
and became Ord, No.190.
Thereupon Klaznm moved that the application of Ralph
Hon.ycutt for residential building permit and Mrs. Edna Moth s
ar,~lication for business building Pe rmit be approved, second by
Clark, the roll w=~s called and all voted in favor.
Thereupon Klamm moved that Bill No. 192 being a bill
providing for the appropriation of money outof the general fund of the
City of Riverside, Mss sours, for the ~yment d certain indebteuness
as follows:
