A regular meeting of the Bo^,rd of A]d ermen of the City
of Riverside, T4issouri was held at the City Hal 1 on February 16,
1954, upon a roll call, aldermen Beach, Clark, Panus, Scrivner, Kbmni
and Young were present. The r, eetin~ was c al led to ~ der by T~Iayor Filger.
Thereupon N'irs. JohnBrenner spoke on the matter of ~rnetting a
post office in the City of Riverside. She reported on the o~nversation
she had with Cor,~,ressman Cole and another er_tle~~:an 'rom Kansas City ~.0.
a.nd it t~ras sup°r~ested that a petition be circulated in the City of
Riverside, T4issouri, and perhaps in North.~roor,l`ii:souri for the
citizens to sign regarding their wanting said post office. T~~is
petition would be the first step towards that goal, ar_d, of course,
would be of tremendous help towards getting the post office.
Ma-ror Filger appointed Klamm and Clark as a committee to
see that the above petition was gotten and circul~~ted in the
said cities.
Thereupon Klamm Usked permission to talk to Nir.Dorsey
to find out what he could regarding the duriip on rIirhway 69 near
the east lirr;its of t'_ne City of Riverside and upon motion by
Clark that he be ,riven t?;is permission, second by Scrivner, all
voted in favor.
Thereupon Bill No. 135 'oeing a bill providing for the
appropriation of money out of the general fund of the City of
Riverside, T~Iissouri, for the pa~Tment of certain indebtedness, as
follows:

upon motion by Klamm, second by Clark, Bill No. 135 was placed
on its first reading. The roll was called and the votes were as
follows: Beach-aye; Clark-aye; Klarrun-aye; Panus-absent; Scrivner-aye;
and Young-aye; and Bill No. 135 was read accordingly.
Thereupon Clark moved that rules be suspended and that
Bill No. 135 be placed on its second reading, second by Klamm, the
roll eras called and the votes were as follows: Beach-aye; Clarlf-aye;
Klarr~:~-aye; Paws-absent; Scrivner-aye; and Young-aye. Bill No. 135
was read accordingly.
Thereupon Clark moved that rules be suspended an d that
B:i.ll No. 135 be placed upon its third rea ding and that upon passage of
same become ordinance No. 135, second by Klamm, the roll was called
and the votes ire as follows: Beach-aye; Clark-aye; Klar~,ni-aye;
Panus, absent. Scrivner-aye; and Young-aye. Bill No. l~ was
accordingly read, declar ed passed, was approved by Niayor Filger and
becan e o. dinance Nio. 135.
Thereupon Bill No. 136 being a bill repealing ordinance
No. 99 which prohibited the oner~~tion of any barbecue business
with~r_ three hundred feet of U. S. 71, U. S. ~Iighway No. 69 North
of the Junction of said highway with State Highway No. 45 and
prohibiting such ope~atic,n with.~_n three hundred feet of state highway
No. 45 and providing a penalty for violation thereof, upon motion
by Klamm, second by Clark, Brill No.136 was placed on its first reading.
The roll was called and the votes were as follows: Beach-aye;
Clerk-aye; Klarnm-aye; Panus abser_t; ~cr•ivner-aye anu Young-aye.
Thereupon Klamm moved that rules be suspended and that

the roll was calle d and the vo~s were as follows: Beach-aye;
Clark-aye; Klamm-aye; Panus-absent; Scrivner-aye; Young-aye;

Thereupon Clark moved that rules be suspended and that
Bill No. 136 be placed upon its third reading and that upon
passage of same uecorne ord~.nar~ce No. 136, second by Scrivner, the
roll was called a.nd the votes were as follows: Beach-aye; Clark-aye;
Klarnnl-aye; Panus absent; Scrivner-aye and Young-aye. Bill No. 13~
was accord5.ngly read, declared passed, was approved by mayor Filger
and became ordnance D?o. 136.
Thereupon Clarke rr~oved that ~.r. J. P. TLlarr~tn~ s application
for building permit for garage be passed upon, second by Beach,
A1.1 voted in favor.
Thereupon Panus ~r,oved that the ai~pli%ation of Helms, Inc.
for building permit for construet~q ~S~r~rice station on 69 highway
a_~proximately 30o feet north of ~a;ri~~~~°;`North of Fairfax
Bridge be approved subject to agreement by Helms, Inc. to install
masonary septic tank in place of metal septic tank as stated in
application, secor_d by Scrivner, all voted in favor.
Klamm moved that meeting adjourn, second by Clark,
meeting adjourned.
