of Aldermen of the City of
Riverside, Missouri
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of
Riverside, Missouri, was held at the City Hall on April 6, 1954,
upon a roll call, aldermen Beach, Clark, Panus, Scri~rer, Kalamm,
~d Young were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor
Filger.
The minutes of previous meeting held March 16 were read,
K~.mm objected to the last paragraph regarding permission granted
to Mr. Kerns for holding carnival on his premises, his reason for
objecting was that the motion was passed at an illegal session of
the council and agains the ordinances of the City of Riverside,
Missouri.
Panus maed that the minutes be accepted and approved as read,
second by Scrivner and upon a roll call the votes were as follows:
Beach-aye; Clark-aye; Klamm-nay; Panus-aye; Scrivner-aye; and
Young-aye.
Thereupon Mayor Filger sfa.ted there will be a special meeting
April 7, 1954; at 8:15 p.m, to canvass the election and determine the
results thereof. Said meeting to be a cldsed session.
Panus reported on the water system fm' the City of Riverside.
He stated he talked to Mr. Meyer, who suggested it might be
to the City of Riverside's advantage to have a water district such as
Clay C unty had, rather than for seperal communities or incorporated
areas go together on the water supply. Panus also stated Mr. Meyer
thought the financial part of the water system could possibly be
worked out in the form of a tax, and that Mr. Meyer would be willing
to come to our next meeting and explain just how the water system
could be worked out.
Scrivner reported on the road signs and stated all of the
purchased signs have been installed, but were short on a few signs.
Mayor Filger reported that the gas company ;wanted a letter
to the effect that the road running north and south or Klamm Road
and the other road running north and south on the west side j~f
Julia. Eskridge's property and Mayor Filger appointed Scrivner as
a committee of one to see if these roads were private or public.
Scrivner suggested that an ordinance be passed regarding the
traffic to stop for the stool buses, a.nd it was delayed until the
next regular meeting due to the fact that we should get a copy of
the ordinance which Kansas City, Missouri has, or one from the
State Highway Department and we could possibly follow this ordinance.
Mayor Filger appointed Young to see Stegner regarding his
request to increase the speed on highway and Junction 69 and 45 highways
to Pa.rkville, Missouri, who already has a speed limit of 45 M.P.H.
