HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-11-17MINUTES OF REGULAR FETING OF THE BOARD OF ALD??RMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVEkSIDE~ MISSOIIRI A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, was held at the City IIall on November 17, 1953• Upon a roll Dell, all of the eldormen were present. The meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Young. The police commiestee commented on Police Officer West~s report stating that it was full and complete and covered the work West was performing. Thereupon Young moved that the Counsel take action on the delinquent business licenses of the City of Riverside, Missouri, and at the earliest possible moment; that Mr. Dorsey be consulted and get his advice for proper procedure to follow, second by Clark, motion carried. Thereupon it was suggested that Young meet with Mr. Dorsey and obtain his opiain regarding deliquent business licenses, and any other members of the counsel were invided to attend such meeting. Thereupon Bill No. 125 being a bill providhg for the authorization of appointment of Mr. Chris ~aVest as special police officer for the City of Riverside, Missouri, upon motion by Young and second by Rlamm, motion carried as followas beach, yes; Clark, yes; Rlsmm, yea; Panus, yes; Scrivner, yes; sad Young, yes. --1 Thereupon Beach moved that rules be suspended and that Bill No. 125 be pl~~eed upon its second reading; second by Young, motion carried with following votes: Beach, yes; Clark, yes; Klemm, yes Panus, yea; and Young, yes. Thereupon Clark roved that rules be suspended and that Bill No. 125 be pl:oed upon its third reading and that upon passage of same become Ordnance No. 125; seend by Scrivner, motion carried as follows: Bes.ch, yes; Clark, yes; Klemm, yes; Panus, yes; Serivner, yes; and Young, yes. Thereupon Bill No. 126 being a bill providing for the authorization of appointment of certain special police officers, namely Andrew Bat liner, Lee Lemon and H. W. Hahn; furtherproviding that such appointment be for a period of three months from this date; that they be paid the sum of X1.00 per month from this date; that they be g+. id the sum of X1.00 per month for such services as may be performed, upon motion by Beach, second by Clark, motion carried with following votes: Beach, yes; Clark, yea; Klemm, yes; Panus, yea; Scrivner, yes; and Young, yes. Thereupon Clark moved that rules be suspended and that Bill No. 126 be placed upon its second reading; second by Klemm, motion carried with following votes; Ber:.ch, yes; Clark, yes; Klemm, yes; Panus, yes; and Young, yes. Thereupon Panus moved that rules be suspended and that Bill No. 126 be placed upon its third reading and that upon passage of s. me become Ordinance No. 126; second by Beach, motion carried with following votes: Reach, yes; Clark, yes; Klemm, yes; Panus, yes; Scrivner, yes; and Young, yes. It was suggested that the police committee have special meeting regarding the working out of schedule, procedure, work performed, etc. by the special police officers. Thereupon Beach moved that keys to the City Hall be msde and given to each police officer, second by Klemm, motin carried unanimously. It was stated by the Board of Aldermen that the City Hall should be used only as a place for City business and should not becne a place of loitering. Thereupon Panus moved that rules be suspended and that Bill No. 127 be planed upon its secnd reading, second by Scrivner, motion carried with following votess Beach, yes; Clark, yes; Rlamm, yes; Panus, yes; Scrivner, yes; and Young, yes. Thereupon Clark moved that rules be suspended and that Bill No. 127 be pl.ced u*~on its third reading and upon passage of same beoome Ordinance No. 127, seoond by Beach, motion carried with votes as follows: Beach, yes; Clark, yes; Rlamm, yes; Panus, yes; Scrivner, yes; and Young, yes. Thereupon it was suggested that a letter be written Health Dapt. requesting a report covering the work they have performed in thc~ City of Riverside. It was suggested that the Board of Ald ermer. study the matter of installatdn of street lights in certain parts of the City of Riverside and if interested a meeting should be had with Mr. Smith of:' the Power and Light Company regarding same. The cost of such lights was unknown, but that could be established at said meeting. Panus moved that meeting ad3ourn, second by Clark, meeting adjourned.
