MINL"TES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF
BOr1RD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOLRI
NOVEMBER 30, 1998
A Special Meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside,
Missouri was held in the City Hall on November 30, 1998, at 7:30 p.m.
Those in attendance were Mayor Ed Rule, Aldermen Pamela Darata, Ray
Beard, George Flaws, Brenda Teters and Betty Burch; Ron Super was absent.
?, sign-up sheet, which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, was
passed around, requesting names and addresses of the residents who were in
attendance to the meeting on the proposed 50th Street improvements.
Gloria Hickman's Gloria Hickman, 3601 NW 50th Street, related that 50th
Remarks. Street was a dead end street with nine (9) residential
houses. 'miler concerns pertained to the proposed
sidewalk, cul-de-sac and the widening of the street, in
addition she related that in the past, the trash trucks,
City snow removal equipment and the fire trucks could
now mobile up and down the street as it is, without any
problems. She felt like the consensus of the residents
at the meeting was to just leave the street as is.
Mr. Leland Ncwman's Mr. Leland Newman, 3536 NW 50th Street, did not want
Remarks. his fence, light pole. gas meter and/or gate removed
because of the street construction.
Mayor Rule's Remarks. Mayor Rule gave the City's Street Design Standards
as being the APWA, which has been adopted into our City
Zoning Codes, that require all streets rebuilt must meet
the APWA specifications.
Amos Cox's Remarks Amos- Cos, 3701 NW 50th Street, related that he has been
a 35-year resident. The new street design would
increase the elevation on his property. making it difficult
to get up his steps and driveway.
Alderman Flaws. Alderman Flaws addressed the other streets that the City
has under construction and did not feel like the City
could not adhere to the rules and regulations which arc
in place regarding sr.rcets, sidewalks and drainage.
Alderman Beard. Alderman Beard said that 50th Street would be
constructed as a new Street.
Angus Thom's Remarks. Angus Thom, 3620 NW 50th Street, would like to see the
City please all of the people on the Street and leave it
as is because the Street i approximately 1000 feet long,
has low traffic and no drainage problems. In addition,
just leave the trees and shrubs alone. Mr. Thom also
felt like the residents did not need a cul-de-sac.
Mayor Rule. Mayor Rule thanked everyone for coming and related that

the Board would take these comments under consideration
and the residents would be notified oP a future meeting.
Adjournment. Alderman Teters moved that the meeting adjourn,
seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was:
Aye: Aldermen Darata, Beard, Flaws, Teters and Burch.
Absent: Alderman Super
Motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
