HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-02-17February 17, 1953 Minutes of the Council meeting on February 17, 1953 Meeting was called to order by Mayor Filger. Aldermen present: Young, Renner, Brenner, Beach. Absent: Clark and Scrivner. Minutes of February 3, 1953, read and approved. Old Business: Police Judge Swetnam reports no arrests during the month of January. Gity Clerk's salary to be tabled until next council meeting. The collector reported license fees collected, and asked questions about some of the outstanding statement a. There was a discussion on the Dari-King business license fee. Dorsey iua to be contacted to sae what can be done about delinquent business license of the former owner. The collector was advised to send a statement to: Commonwealth Drive-In Inc. 215 GYeat 16th, Kansas Gity 8, 1Riasouri. A motion by Young to give Dorsey authority to collect most deliz~uent and largest amounts due the City of Riverside. Sec. by Brenner. Vote: Young-yes; Renner--yes, Brenner--yes, Beach--yes, Clark and Scrivner--absent. Motion carried. (No action to be taken until Dorsey is contacted and an agreement is made in writing as to what he will charge for this service.) A check is to be made of the Green Trailer Court. A committee was not appointed. Young made a motion to put in the minutes that the following were appointed as judges and clerks for the special election held on January 27, 1953 granting a franchise to the Power and Light Company and the Gas Service Company: Mrs. Knoth, Mrs. Bess Brenner, Mrs. Ruby Klamm, and bra. Ruth Ecton. Sec. by Beach. Votes Young--yes, Beach--yea, Renner--yes, Brenner--yea, Glark and Scrivner--absent. Motion carried. Young made a report that Mr. Stegner had the traffic sigrn ready. Also , Young reported that some thought is being given for the future City Hall and fire station for Riverside. Dr. T. M. Eagle's resignations were read and tabled until some future time. The Poat Office issue was tabled until the next council meeting. Building permits were issued to Dr. T.M. Eagle and to Mr. Lowell Brenner. Motion for Eagle's permit by Beach, sec. by Young. Votes Young yea-- Renner--yes, Brenner--yea, Beach--yes, Clark and Scrivner--absent. Motion for Brenner's tool shed by Beach, sec. by Renner. Votes Young--yea, Renner--yea, Brenner--yes, Beach--yea, Clark and Scrivner--absent. Motion carried. Brenner made a motion that Bill ;g5~uthorizing the payment of the following be placed on first reading. Sec by Beach.
