Aldermen present: Beach, Brenner, Claris, i~enner, Scrivner, Young. Visii;ors present: hers. Brophy, I,tr.s. Davis, and Prr. i~`.anning. New Business: Visitors were called upon to speak, main issue regarding building; code for the city of [3iverside. Alderman Clark moved that a committee be formed submitting recommendationsto the city council for the purpose of settins*, up a buildinn, code for the city. "R~sidential Seconded by alderman Renner. Motion carried. All in favor. Alderman F?each moved that a letter be sent to each serving on this committee stating time and place of meetinn, which is N'riday, j~ugust 22, at 8:00 P.M. Seconded by `'lderman Renner. Motion carried unanimously. <~lderman Clark moved that standing rules for conducting; council meeting be adopted. Seconded by Alderman Ueach. Biotion carried. Alderman Young moved th^t the Northern iieit*hts Bus Co. be ?iven permission to establish bus stop at the following places: Skelly Service Station, IIi~*hway 71; White City Hotel, I3ighway 71; and the Aed-X Store, Ili.;hway jl. Seconded by •'~lderman Beach. i+?otion carried unanimously. Subject to investigation on the franchise which the N. h. Bus Co. no~~~ holds. ) the acting; Tylayor asked aldermen Beach to investigate tr:is matters making a report at next meeting. Alderman Youn? moved that t;he c9_ty purchase a radio for the I:'iarshall's car under the Civil Defense Program whici-i is cover- ing fifty per cent of the purchase price and that the other fifty per cent be covered from donations. Mrs. vavis, t4.rs. Claris, and hrs. Swartz are acting on this committee. Seconded by Alderman f%each. Motion carried. (`Phis is subject to investi- gation) Alderman Young moved that the Marshall check the trailer courts in the-city once every two months submitting a written report to the council. Seconded by alderman Brenner. ~:otion carried. Alderman Yountr, moved that a letter be written to the ciiverside Drive-In `l~heater stating that numerous complaints have been received due to ~.he speak_ers being; extremely loud at late hours as there are some citizens who are seriously ill as well as others complain from losing, sleep. Seconded b~j Alderman Scrivner. Continued: D;otion carried unanimously. This also applies to the Riverside Stadium. Also send letter. Sincerely ask their cooperation. The actin? Nayor asked Alderman Beach to contact Mr. Dorsey regarding the use of the Parkville 3a i1 and also the Platte City ,jail. N`ake report in writing and submit to the council all legal information. Also contact the prosecuting; attorney of Platte County, t+ar. Hia~ins, and also Sheriff Lowmiller. Letter received from Curtis and t`iarren Brenner requesting a rezoning. Alderman Seach moved that Judge Swetnam be reimbursed for the Missouri Statutes wYiich he has purchased and same become property of the City of Riverside. Seconded by 'alderman Brenner. Reports: 'Phe acting P~;ayor explains that four copies of the traffic reg- ulations' ordinance must be sent to the state hi?hvray depart- ment vahich vrill be forwarded to Jefferson City, No.in order that the city might g;et traffic signs placed in the city of Riverside. The acting Mayor ITives information regardin,• a post office in the city from his conversation with the Postmaster of Parkville, I'~"issouri, E~nmitt Poore. The CSty of Riverside may be given the service so desired. Inspectors from tkie Postal Dept. are coming to Parkville in t?~e ver~j near future and. a report will follow. L?nfinished Busf.ness: Alderman Younr~ moved that a letter be written to Mr. Tyson who has made application for trailer sales in the city returning the application , plans and chocks explaining to P~;r, Tyson that his application has been disapproved due to improper zone of the city ordinance for trailer sales or tralier repairs. Actin; i~iayor advised the city attorney, N'r. Dorsey, be consulted on the matter. Ordinances: Alderman Young moved that bill No. 60 be placed upon its first reading. Seconded by Alderman Brenner.
