HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-06-03 Park Board Minutes RIVERSIDE PARK BOARD MEETING MINUTES June 3, 2009 6:00 p.m. The Riverside Park Board held their regularly scheduled meeting at Riverside City Hall, 2950 NW Vivion Road, Riverside Missouri 64150, on Wednesday, June 3, 2009. Those in attendance were: Julie Rule, Deborah Leader, Jim Frakes, Norma Parrot, Terri Dwyer, Ron Carlson, Alderman Mike Fuller, Mayor Kathy Rose, Mike Duffy, Director of Community Development, Meredith Hauck, Coordinator of Communication and External Affairs, and Sarah Wagner, Administrative Clerk. Member Absent: Norma Parrot. Approval of Ron Carlson made a motion to approve the minutes of April 1, 2009. minutes from April 1, 2009 Jim Frakes seconded and the motion passes. Public Works Meredith Hauck, Coordinator of Communication and External Affairs updated the Park Board Consultant on the progress that the Public Works consultant, Valerie McCaw was making. She will be Update making time in the near future to meet with members of the Park Board and we should have her final report soon. Renner Meredith Hauck gave the Park Board an update on Renner Brenner Park. She explained that Brenner Park the City is still looking for an archeologist to do a study of the park and any possible remnants Update from Indian tribes that may be there. This is a very busy time for them so it has been difficult to find someone to meet the timeframe we need. The City would like the new playground equipment to be in when the road opens up in August. Meredith Hauck also explained that the City just ordered some temporary fencing to go around portions of Renner Brenner Park to help direct people around and keep kids out of the construction area. It should be up in the next few days. Priority List Meredith Hauck explained to the Park Board that they do not have to have the projects for their and Budget budget all in place by the time the Board of Aldermen approves the budget July 1. The Board Discussion of Aldermen will just approve the amount and then as projects come up the Board of Aldermen is asked for approval. A copy of the priority list was distributed with all projects that have been discussed and what budget they are assigned to. If something needs to come out of the Park Boards Budget and estimated cost is given. The Park Board agreed to focus on finishing Renner Brenner Park and other small projects for the next budget cycle. The projects include: ? Railing on the Interurban Bridge for the West Platte Trail Segment- $40,000 ? Complete section of Missouri Riverfront Trail at Argosy and E.H. Young Park-$70,000 ? Install 2 emergency call boxes on the Missouri Riverfront Trail- $18,000 ? Replace Shelter House at Renner Brenner- $100,000 ? Physical Barrier at Renner Brenner between park and private property- $10,000 ? Improve water access at E.H. Young Park-$ 15,000 ? Paint fence and add additional length with gate - $150,000 ? Seal and re-stripe E.H. Young parking lot-$11,000 ? Repair brick trail at H.H. Young - $20,000 General The Park Board decided to meet on June 8, 2009 at 6:00 pm to walk the trails and discuss what Discussion needs to be done. The meeting was adjourned by unanimous consent. Adjournment
