RIVERSIDE PARK BOARD MEETING
MINUTES
January 7, 2009
6:00 p.m.
The Riverside Park Board held their regularly scheduled meeting at Riverside City Hall, 2950 NW Vivion Road,
Riverside Missouri 64150, on Wednesday, January 7, 2009. Those in attendance were: Julie Rule, Deborah Leader,
Norma Parrot, Jim Frakes, Ron Carlson, Alderman Mike Fuller, Mayor Kathy Rose, Jeff Rupp, Director of Public Works,
Mike Duffy, Director of Community Development and Sarah Wagner, Administrative Clerk.
Approval of Deborah Leader made a motion to approve the minutes of December 3, 2008.

Renner Mike Duffy, Director of Community Development gave an update on the playground
Brenner equipment for Renner Brenner Park. He explained that staff is working on putting together a
Playground bid package for the playground equipment. A survey was done and it was determined that an
Equipment. ADA accessible path will need to be put in because the current grade to where the new
equipment will be is at 16% and for it to be ADA accessible it can only be 5%. This will be
included in the bid.
Alderman Mike Fuller asked about a rock wall option for separating the park from the
residential lot next to it.
Jeff Rupp, Director of Public Works replied that it has been added to the bid package as a
alternate bid.
Mike Duffy commented that the property in question is also something that the City would like
to acquire at some point.
Julie Rule commented that the price for the playground equipment is $126,000 due to the
addition of the Play Mata flooring and having to pay prevailing wage. This price does not
include moving the existing equipment.
Jeff Rupp said that Public Works would be able to remove the existing equipment.
Mike Duffy said that the City may want to store the equipment and use it at the end of St. Joe
Boulevard where the City has acquires some property for a trail head.
Trails Mike Duffy gave an update on City Trails. He explained that the City has budgeted for the
Line Creek Trail and that will be completed in the spring. The City has also worked with the
Mid America Regional Council (MARC) to put together a stimulus package of projects to be
completed this year. There were 16 projects that the City has submitted and all are on the CIP,
which include the upper and middle Line Creek Trail.
Duffy also explained that the Briarcliff offices on West Platte are almost complete. Along
with this project came the Linear Trail. The City has a development agreement with Briarcliff
to add water features on West Platte Road.
Design work for the Vivion Road Bridge is underway and will include a pedestrian trail under
the bridge.
Mayor Kathy Rose asked about the Line Creek Connectors.
Mike Duffy replied that it has been added to the stimulus package with the Argosy Parkway
bridge.
Julie Rule asked about a trail on the wet side of the Levee.
Mike Duffy replied the more data needs to be collected because that property belongs to the
Levee District.
Julie Rule asked about the possibility in the future of a sports complex.
General Mike Duffy replied that the YMCA has approached the City about the construction of a large
Discussion indoor/outdoor facility. The problem is that there isn’t a lot of flat ground in Riverside.
