BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI
APRIL 5, 1994
A regular meeting of the Bonrd of Aldermen of the City
of Riverside, Missouri waa held in the City Hall in
Riverside, Missouri on April 5, 1994, at 7:30 P.M. Those
present were Aldermen Wedua, Teters, Karr, Marshall, Rule and
Auat. Mayor Betty Burch called said meeting to order.
William H. Cornwell, Jr., 4009 NW South Road <746-0933)
spoke to the Mayor and Board with regard to how Beamer
Construction Company repaired his fence and the condition
they left his back yard in. Mayor Burch said she had a
couple of conversations with Mr. Cornwell and also with
Beamer and thought the matter had been corrected. However,
it appeared that Beamer had done some filling in with dirt
and that it had settled again and the fence at the one corner
is considerable lower. Thies matter waa discussed and it waa
decided to look over the situation and check to see if Beamer
would correct the situation or if Riverside would have to do
the work. Mr. Cornwell will be contacted later. Mr.
Cornwell said that he has not hooked up to the sewers and the
reason waa that he wanted the sewer problem corrected before
he connected to the. sewer. Mr. Cornwell said that after the
fence situation is corrected, he will connect to the sewer
and will accept the liability of any problem concerning his
hooking into the sewer.
Bob Gieseke spoke to the Mayor and Board regarding the
meeting which waa had regarding the repair of the levee. He
reported that they are working with the conservation people
to get the repairs done as quickly as possible. It appears
that the levee will be repaired with minimal coat to the
property owners.
E. H. Young waa present with Application for Building
and Ghange of Use Permit. There were drawings showing the
building and plot plan. He had been to the Planning
Commission on March 24, 1994. The Planning Commission
recommended the approvnl of the plane aub~ect to approval by
the City Engineer.
Aldermen Karr moved that the Change of Uae Permit be
approved, seconded by Alderman Marshall, the vote was:
Aldermen Wedua, Tetera, Kerr, Marshall, Rule and Auat, yea.
Mr. Young said it would take 60 to 90 days for the
architect to have completed plena. He also sold he was lOOx
for Riverside and could not see where Riverside would be at
any risk in approving the present plane. This matter waa
discussed further.

Application for E. H. Young's building aub~ect to the
architect's drawings and plane being presented to the
Planning Commission and then to the Board of Aldermen for
approval as well as approval by the City of Engineer,
seconded by Alderman Marshall, the vote was Aldermen Wedua,
Tetera, Karr, Marshall, Rule and Auat, yea.
Mr. Young oleo inquired whether he would be able to get
a liquor license for selling liquor at his new store. It was
the consensus of the Mayor and Board that there would be no
problem of his getting a liquor license at his new store,
however, it was suggested that he mnke application for same
as soon as possible becnuae each application is token on its
merits.
Bides were received on sweeping the streets, however,
neither of the two bidders stated how many hours they
estimated it would take to sweep the streets, they ~uat had
the price per hour. They will be requested to get the
estimated hours it will take to sweep the City Streets.
Lorry Reece requested permission to purchase two gas
trimmers for the City. It wee suggested to check on where
the two trimmers are which purchased last year.
A note from Larry Reece reported on the air conditioning
unit, on the roof of the City Hall. Jacob and Sona said that
due to the duct work, one of the compressors is out. That
this probably will happen again if the duct work is not
corrected. They said the coat of the compressor installed
would be 5900.00. This matter was discussed. It was the
consensus of the Mnyor and Board that the duct work should be
checked out and bids on correcting the air conditioning
should be obtained.
Alderman Karr moved to reinstate Jeen Grogan as
Treasurer of the City of Riverside, seconded by Alderman
Rule, the vote was Aldermen Wedua, Karr, Tetera, Marshall,
Rule and Auat, yes.
Alderman Auat said that Leann Zimmerman has complained
about the large trucks parking in Indian Hiller and wants to
come to the next meeting to talk to the Board regarding this
matter.
There being no further business to come before the
Board, upon motion duly made, seconded and passed meeting
adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
