HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-09-06 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI SEPTEMBER 6, 1994 A regular meeting of the Boar^d of Aldermen of City of Riverside, Missouri on September^ 6, 1994, at 7:30 p. m. Those present were Aldermen Wedua, Marshall, Rule, and Owen; Aldermen Teters and Aust absent. Mayor Betty Burch called said meeting to order. It was decided to dispense with the r^eading of the minutes of A~_igust 16, 1994 and September 1, 1994 for the present time. Vernon Davis, 2348 NW Woodland, spoke to the Mayor and Board and also presented pictures of the taw-in service at 2323 NW Woodland and wanted to know if something could be done about this type of business in a residential area. This was discussed and wo~_ild be checked into. Janice Shackelfor^d, 12020 Winbrook Gourt, F'ar^kville, MO, presented business license for Florist and Gift Shap at 2642 West Platte Raad. This was approved subject to the payment of the fee. Dennis Todd, 6624 North Landon, K. C. , MO 64151, presented business license for Todd & Associates at 106 NW Business Park. Lane. This is for shipping assembly parts and adhesives. This was approved sub,7ect to the payment of the fee. Ron Jones of Kaw Valley Engineering presented application and drawings for expansion of parking lot for 250 more vehicles for Argosy at the City's Park. This was approved by the Planning Commission and also by the Gity Engineer. Rule absented himself frarn the approval of this matter because of his involvement with Argosy. Jahn and Rosa Curt right and her husband, 5115 Merrimac, spoke to the Board regarding cleaning up the street. This was discussed and will be checked into. Mike Knatts, 4412 NW Pawnee, spoke to the Mayor and Board regarding the dangerous situation at 911 Valley Lane, dust earth of Cherokee. Vehicles are par^ked on one side and you have to go on the apposite side of the street to go around them and is quite dangerous. This matter was discussed and the Public Safety Department will check this out. Larry Reece reported that the pump at the lift station is inoperable. A new pump from Smith & Lovelace would cast appraxirnately X423.00, plus X85.00 per hour far installation 4 I r Page ~, Min. of Reg. Meet., 9-6-94 and service. Alderman Rule maved to purchase the new pump frarn Smith & Lovelace and the service to repair same, i. e. cast of pump X423.@@ plus service at ~$5.@@ per hour, seconded by Marshall, the vote was Aldermen Wedua, Marshall, Rule and Owen, yes; Aldermen Aust and Teters absent. Alderman Rule maved to apprave the overtime far the Public Safety Department far the month of August 1994, seconded by Alderman Marshall, the vote was Aldermen Marshall, Wedua, Rule and Owen, yes; Aldermen Teters and Aust absent. Mayor Bur^ch is absent this portion of meeting (8:26 p.m.> and Alderman Rule is Mayor Pra-Tem. Alderman Marshall maved to apprave payment of X25@.@@ far news letter, ~3,@@@.@Q~ far Fall Festival and ~4@.@@ far the EDC Luncheon, seconded by Alderman Wedua the vote was Aldermen Wedua, Marshall, Owen, yes; Rule being Mayor Pra-Tem and Aldermen Aust and Teters absent. Alderman Wedua maved that the City Proclaim Friday, September 9, 1994 as Red Friday in honor of the Chiefs, seconded by Owen, the vote was Alderman Wedua, Owen, Marshall, yes; Rule Mayor Pra-Tern and Aldermen Teters and Aust absent. Attorney Witt explained to the Berard the procedure to ga thr^augh with regard to enforcing the nuisance ordinance. The lease with Argosy was discussed. The minutes of August 16, 1994 were read and approved as read. The minutes of September 1, 1994 were read and approved as read. Mayor Burch was present at this portion of meeting, 10:2@ p. m.
