RESOLUTION
To Appoint a Representative to the
MARC Solid Waste Management District's
Management Council
WHEREAS, The State of Missouri established the goal to reduce by forty percent the amount of
solid waste generated for landfill disposal; and
WHEREAS, The. Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) Solid Waste Management District was
established, in accordance with the State of Missouri Solid Waste Management Law of 1990, to
facilitate local government cooperation in order to meet the waste reduction goal; and
WHEREAS, The City of Riverside Board of Alderman adopted the
MARC Solid Waste Management District's Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan in 1994 which
provides a method for local governments to select alternatives for waste reduction and recycling
activities; and
WHEREAS, The City of Riverside Board of Alderman recognizes
that a comprehensive plan for region-wide integrated solid waste management in the Kansas
City metropolitan area is necessary in order to accomplish significant waste reduction; and
WHEREAS, The City of Riverside Board of Alderman
acknowledges the district's efforts to work with local governments on both sides of the state line; and
WHEREAS, The MARC Solid Waste Management District is seeking the participation of Cass, Clay,
Jackson, Platte and Ray counties, and all cities over 500 population therein, to work with the district
to implement a regional integrated solid waste management plan; and
WHEREAS, The City of Riverside Board of Alderman shall appoint
one (1) representative to serve on the Management Council of the MARC Solid Waste Management
District for a term of two years:
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the The City of Riverside Board of Alderman of the City of
Riverside, Missouri, appoints Kathleen L. Rose to serve on the MARC
Solid Waste Management District's Management Counci; [optional]with David Hurt
to serve as the designated alternate.

• One small city representative appointed by the Johnson County Council of Mayors
• One representative appointed by any city with a solid waste disposal area or major processing facility
