A RESOLUTION
PROMTING NATIONAL ORGAN/TISSUE DONATION AWARENESS WEEK 1989
WHEREAS, the week of April 23-29, 1989 has been named
Nationl Organ And Tissue Donor Awareness Week (N.O.T.D.A.W.)
by a Presidential Proclamation; and
WHEREAS, the gift of an organ or tissue could save the
lives of many who might otherewise die, or could make possible
normal living for some who might otherwise be severely hand-
icapped because their kidneys, livers, eyes or other organs
or tissues are unable to sustain them; and
WHEREAS, through organ and tissue donation, those who
have compassion and concern for other human beings, may
create a miracle for those in need when they themselves depart; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that public authorities
encourage organ and tissue donations and increased public
awareness of the need for such donations; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI
That the Mayor and Board of Alderman hereby invite ail
citizens to consider giving this great gift to those who are
less fortunate and to sign an organ and tissue donor card,
and urge all citizens to join with them in supporting the
promoting the goals and ideals of National Organ/Tissue
Donor Awareness Week, 1989.
