HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-04-06 - Red Zoner ' ern ti~~.A~~S?~.~?.~3~~„r`-c?„~~~c~,n~~~-c~~,la~ R E S O L U T I O N ~~ ~~ {~~ G~ ~~ ,~ WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City of Riverside, Missouri, and its citizens that some members of the City Council of the City of Kanaas City, Missouri, are contemplating the establishment of a "Red Zone", more particularly defined as a depository for all aorta of unsavory businesses which proliferate throughout the City of Kansas City; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Alderman of Riverside, Missouri, on behalf of their constituent citizens, are further advised that the "Red Zone" be established on the north bank of the Missouri River in an area within the city limits of Kansas City, Missouri, more particularly referred to es the Harlem area; and WHEREAS, the City of Riverside is real close to the said Harlem area; and WHEREAS, the ill effects of the location of the said "Red Zone" would moat seriously effect the City of Riverside, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BUY THE MAYOR AND THE BOARD OF ALDERMAN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: THAT THEY DO HEREBY vigorously object to the establishment of a "Red Zone" as herein depicted and further bring to the attention of the city government of the City of Kansan City the fact that the peace and dignity of the community of Riverside, Missouri, would be vitally affected and burdened by the selection of this so close to the City of Riverside, Missouri. We further urge the City Council of the City of Kanaas City, Missouri, to address the problem with this segment of the community by a more sensible and realistic solution which would not be a detriment to your neighboring cities creating a gathering place for undesirables, reducing property values and generally downgrading the immediately adjacent area. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be directed to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, requesting that they be considerate and understanding of the substantial and significant problems born in mayor cities and not discard them to a location near to smaller cities that are unable to resist said action.
