Regarding Missouri House 472 and Senate Bill 369
Whereas, the City of Riverside has beers acquiring and managing public rights-of-way within the
city's corporate limits since the founding of the city, and;
Whereas, the City of Riverside has been coordinating activities in its public rights-of-way in
order to minimize disruptions to facilities in the rights-of-way and to its citizens, and;
Whereas, public rights•of-way provide public utilities with an invaluable asset, and;
Whereas, new telecommunication providers are putting increased demands on the public rights-
of-way and increased disruptions in existing utilities and to citizens, and;
Whereas, Missouri House Bill 472 and Senate Bill 369, recently inhnduced bills, would severely
restrict the ability of the City of Riverside to properly manage its rights-of--way and be fairly
compensated for its use.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF RIVERSIDE
1. The City of riverside is opposed do Missouri House Bill 472 and Senate Bi11369 and any
similar legislation that would usurp the authority of local governments to properly
manage their assets and would restrict a Iocai governments ability to be fairly
compensated for the use of its assets.
2. The City of Riverside urges state lawmakers m oppose Missouri House Bill 472 and
Senate Bil! 369 and similar legislation and to support legislation that would strengthen
the authority of local gove~mments to properly manage their public rights-of--way,
including roquu+ements that utilities using the public rigirts-of-way provide adequate
snaps and plans, that they file appropriate notiixcations and permits whin working in the
public rights-of-way, and that utilities operating in the public rights-of-way coor+cliaate
their activities with appropriate local governments and other utilities using the public
rights~of-way.
