HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-09-18 - Frank Vaydik ParkRESOLUTION WHEREAS, The City of Riverside recognizes the historical significance of Indigenous Cultures who once occupied the land known as Frank Vaydik Park, z years ago; and, WHEREAS, it has been established that this sacred ground is the site for American Indian Archeological artifacts dating back to more than 1,000 years; and, WHEREAS, The City of Riverside wishes to recognize and honor the performance of a Healing Ceremony, on the land at Frank Vaydik Park; and, WHEREAS, The City of Riverside also wishes to honor and acknowledge a gathering of Spiritual Leaders from the four cardinal directions to perform a Healing Ceremony to bless the land; and, WHEREAS, September 21, 22, and 23`d, 2001 has been designated as a time for this noteworthy event, to which the public is invited to witness; and, WHEREAS, This important Healing Ceremony is also recognized as a first step in the future development of this site; and, WHEREAS, The City of Riverside is supportive of the stated mission of the National Center for Indigenous American Cultures at Frank Vaydik Park to support the preservation of various archeological cultures represented at this site. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Riverside is pleased to acknowledge and support the healing ceremony to be held on September 21,22, and 23, 2001, at the Frank Vaydik Park with the purpose of providing a spiritual blessing to this land, to the native people of the Kansas City area and to all others who are interested and involved in the preservation of this sacred ground. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be entered into the Official Minutes of the City of Riverside.
