HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-01-07 - Transportation PlanSUPPORTING THE PLATTE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION PLAN WHEREAS, the City of Riverside recognizes the importance of improving and maintaining the condition of Platte County's roads and bridges; and WHEREAS, the Platte County transportation plan's primary goal is to enhance general usage and safety of security roads, proposing solutions for which collector roads, arterial roads and bridges are in most need of improvements; and WHEREAS, the first-ever transportation plan for Platte County, in effect, involves every road and bridge in the county, identifying 21 needed road improvements and improvements to all bridges that have been rated deficient by the state; and WHEREAS, a 25 member citizen task force appointed by the Platte County Commission has recommended a 3/8 cents sales tax for 10 years that would require voter approval; and WHEREAS, the tax would have a major impact on incorporated parts of the county, generating $33 million for road improvements for each city within Platte County and $33 million for road improvements for each city within Platte County and $33 million for unincorporated areas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Riverside pledges support for Platte County's transportation plan.
