HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-05-18.` ._ 'ti» MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI MAY 18, 1993 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri an May 18, 1993 at 7:30 p.rn. Those present were Wedua, Teters, Karr, Marshall, Rule and Aust. Mayor Betty Burch called said meeting to order. It was decided to dispense with the r^eading of the Minutes of May 11, 1993 for the present time. David Brenner and Kurt Eckard presented license for the selling of Fireworks. They had Certificate of "No Tax Due"; Permit of the Division of Fire Safety; State of Missouri Tax Number and Sign Approval. This was approved subject to the payrnent of the Clean-up Bond and Fee. Wallace D. Harwood, 819 Cambridge Road, Lot 7375, Belton Missouri 7401, representing Refrigerant Recovery Carp. of Amer^ica, 613 NW Business Par^k Lane far business 1 icense. Reprocessing refrigerant solution. They will not be handling any hazardous material. This was approved subject to the payrnent of the fee. Larry A. D i l t s, 4910 O l d F' i ke Raad, G 1 ad st one, MO, representing Lad/Ca Construction, 412 NW Business Park Lane for business license. This is far cabinet making and assembling. This was appr^oved subject to obtaining a sales tax number and paying the fee. Harry Lee Boggess, III, 1901 E "H" Highway, Liberty, MO presented business license application far the selling of fireworks at 4609 NW Gateway Dr. A discussion was had with Mr. Boggess, regarding complaints received last year regarding parking. Mr. Boggess is to talk to his neighboring businesses and work out a plan. with them. He had his Certificate of Na Tax Due; Division of Fire Safety Permit, State of Ma Tax number and Sign approved. This was approved subject to the Clean Up Bond and License Fee. Jim Martin, 11716 E. 40th Street, Independence, MO presented business license application far the selling of Fireworks at 1920 NW Platte Raad. He has his Certificate of Na Tax Due; Division of Fire Safety Certificate, State of Mo Tax number and Sign appr^oval. This was approved subject to the Clean Up Band and License Fee. Dan Hollister, 821 8 Street, Fargo N. D. , of Old Glor^y Marketing, presented business license application far selling Fireworks at Coach Light, 4720 NW Gateway. He has his Gertificate of No Tax Due; Division of Fire Safety Certificate; State of MO Tax Number and Sign approval. He said that everything appeared to be in order now. The sewer pra~ect is riot included in this report. Marshall moved that the 1991-92 City Audit be accepted, seconded by Rule, the vote was, marshall, Rule, Wedua, Teters, Aust and Karr, yes. An Application far Special Use Permit of the First National Bank of Platte County, far an A T Machine, at Platte Valley Business Park was presented. Karr moved that the Special Permit in Fiaad Area be approved far the Fir^st National Bank's A. T. Machine, seconded by Aust, the vote was, Rule, Karr, Rule, Aust, Wedua, Teters and Marshall, yes. The Minutes of May il, 1993 were read and approved as corrected. Chief Bob Bayless said he had scheduled Tom Archibald to attend the Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Advisory Counsel in July which would cost a considerable amount of money and now they have asked Tom Archibald to be one of the instructors and all it will cost is X75.@@ far the registr^atian fee. Torn Archibald does have a certificate to teach the law Enforcement Traffic Safety. Chief Bayless said with regard to New Life-New Start, he has composed a letter and wants Dan Witt to approve it before he sends it out. With regard to the bids an purchasing a Weed-eater and Lawn Mower, a discussion was had. Marshall rnaved that the City Purchase the Lawn Bay from Ray Sapp for 21" self-propelled, X529.95, seconded by Aust, the vote was Wedua, Aust, Teters, Rule, Karr and Marshall, yes. Karr moved that the City Purchase the Hornelite Weed- Eater for X129.@@, seconded by Wedua, the vote was Marshall, Karr, Rule, Teters, Wedua and Aust, yes. Karr moved that the Board go into executive session to discuss real estate matters, seconded by Marshall, the vote was Karr, Marshall, Teters, Aust, Wedua and Rule yes. Karr moved that the Berard go inter regular session, seconded by Wedua, the vote was, Karr, Aust, Marshall, Rule, ,~ " 3 q ~.~~3 Teters and Wedua, yes. Karr moved that Bill 93-25 be placed an its first reading, said Bill provides far the appropriation of money out of the general fund of the City of Riverside, Missouri far the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein seconded by Wedua, the vote was Wedua, Aust, Teters, Rule, Marshall and Karr, aye. Karr moved that Bill No. 93-25 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Wedua, the vote was Wedua, Aust, Teters, Rule, Marshall and Karr, aye. Whereupon, the Bill having been made available far public inspection prior to the consideration of the Board of Aldermen, Bill Na. 93-25 was passed. Rule brought up the subject that there are areas where weeds and grass needs cutting. This brought up the discussion that the City should have an ordinance that if the people da not maw their weeds or grass when it is tall, that the City can da this and charge the owner- of the property far the rnawing. Marshall inquired as to the RFP Carnmittee. Mayor Burch said that there was going to be a meeting with Argosy an Wednesday morning, May 19, 1993 and we should have a report from the RFP Committee very shortly. Karr said that it appeared that Don Alexander people were hauling lots of things in His place of business and would like this to be checked out. It was brought up that the time is about up on cleaning up the start of a garage at Hermosa and High Drive. It was also brought out that Beemer Construction Company has many things to complete an the sewer pra~ect and they will be doing this dust as soon as the weather permits. Teters brought up the matter of MOKAN Container, to check it out regarding how high they can stack their containers. There being no further business to come before the Board, upon motion duly made, seconded and passed, meeting ad~aurned at 9:45 p. m. -------------------------------- r I
