BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Ordinances No. 253, 253A1, 25381, 253A2, 253A3, and 253A4 of the City of Riverside are hereby repealed and the following provisions are enacted in lieu thereof. Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, partnership, or corporation to carry on, operate, maintain, or engage in any business of any kind or character within the limits of. the City of Riverside without first obtaining an occupation license for such business, which license shall be issued by the City to such person, firm, partnership, or corporation upon proper appli- cation being made therefor and payment of the fee prescribed by the Board of Aldermen. No such license shall be transferable or assign- able. Each license shall be issued for a designated address or loca- tion within the City of Riverside and shall not be used for any other locat~n within the City of Riverside unless application to move the location of such business shall first have been made to the Board o£ Aldermen and permission granted by the Board of Aldermen. Section 3. Fees to be paid for licenses for various occupations are set a.s follows: OCCUPATION PER YEAR Animal Hospitals $35.00 Antique Shops 25.00 Application Store 50.00 Auctions 50.00 Automobile Agencies 75.00 Bait and/or Sporting Goods Shops 25..00 Bakeries 35.00 Banks 75.00 Barbershops 25.00 Beauty Shops 25.00 Book Stores 25.00 Bowling Alleys 100.00 Building Material Yards 50.00 Caterers 50.00 Cleaning and pressing shops 30•~ Concession stands $75.00 per year for the operation of not more than six concession stands in a single place of amusement; $12.50 per year for each additbnal stand, provided, however, if food and/or,beverages are sold From such concession stands by vendors circulating through such places of amusement and under the supervision and/or control of the business operating such concession stands in a place of amusement, then and in that event $125.00 per year for the operation of not more than ~'~~ ono -_. __ ,. Any person, firm, partnership or corporation desiring to enter into any business or occupation within the City, which business or occupation is not above listed and the fee for such occupational license prescribed by the terms of this ordinance, shall apply for an occupational license from the Board of Aldermen, and the Board of Aldermen upon such application shall set the fee to be charged per year for such occupational license for such occupation or business and others like it, As regards those persons applying fora renewal of their occupation license, no proration of the license Fee for a period less than one year shall be permitted, but for persons applying for an occupation license for the first time from the City of Riverside, pro-ration shall be permitted on the basis of not less than one-third (1/3) of said license fee for any portion of the year remaining which shall be less than one-third (1/3) of the calendar year and two- thirds (2/3) of the license fee for any portion of the year re- maining which shall benure than one-third (1/3) and less than Ordinance No.253R2 two-thirds (2/3) of the calendar year. There shall be no pro- ration of such license Por seasonal business or liquor licenses. Nothing in this ordinance shall apply to liquor-by-the drink or intoxicating beer or non-intoxicating beer licenses. Section 5. The term of all occupational licenses shall ' commence on January 1 and expire on December 31 of each year, except as provided herein. ~ Section 6. Occupational licenses for the operation of a garage business shall be issued for no more than one quarter of a calendar year and shall be successively renewable for no more than one quarter of a calendar year at a time. The fee to be paid for such garage occupation license shall be $7.OOortion quarter of the calendar year with no pro-ration for any p of such quarter. All operators of licensed garages shall keep tip premises on rh3.ch such business 1s located in a neat and orderly condition and shall not permit the accumulation thereon of gunk, trash, debris and wrecked vehicles. Any licensee holding a garage license, who shall have abided by the requirements of this ordinance and the other ordinances of the City of Riverside, shall be entitled to have his occupation license renewed from such quarter license period to the next gthetfeelherein prescribed. on making a~lication therefor and paying Any licensee who shall violate the terms of this ordinance or other ordinances of the City of Riverside may in the discretion of the Board of Aldermen be denied the renewal of said license. Section 7. If any occupation license shall not be renewed and the holder thereof shall continue the operation of such business, the fee to be charged for such occupation license shall be increased 2596 if such renewal license is applied for after February 1 of the succeeding calendar year and shall increase 50~ if such renewal license is not applied for before March 1 of such succeeding calendar year. Section 8. Violation of this ordinance shall be punishable by ~e not to exceed $100.00 or by imprisonment in the City Jail, or in the County Jail if there be no City Jail, and for a period of not to exceed 90 days, or by both such fine. and imprisonment and costs, and each day's operation of an occupation or business without having obtained the necessary license as provided for herein shall constitute a separate violation.
