HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-01-05 Park Board MinutesRIVERSIDE PARK BOARD THURSDAY, JANUARY 5,1995 REGULAR MEETING Meeting was called to order by President Zimmerman. Those present were: Gary Brenner, Bill Bright, Mayor Bureh, Helen Crist, Betty Lampkin and Sam Aylett. Randee Bach, Project Manager for Argosy, came before the board requesting their permission to construct a secondary road through the "river park". Mayor $areh explained this matter had already passed the planning commission and was ready to go to the council for approval, but needed the park board's approval After review of the plans, the park board came ap with several recomendations for the council and Argosy. The lust, is only a sidewalk on the north side of the road and wide ena~gh to accomodate goff carts. Second, a boa tanael passage, be installed under the road for access to the northern part of the park The third, was re-alligament of the drain from the road on the northern side, to deliver water more dirretly towards the creek according to the contours on the survey. The fourth, is the road be fenced and that the northern fence be between the road and the sidewalk and this fence to have a gate for mowing and service access and fire safety. Bill Bright made a motion that the board accept the grading plan "east" subjeM to drainage plea change, and minimum of 8' wide tunnel "boz passage", under the road approxkmately between the wetlands and proposed park road entrance. Sam Aylett seconded. A vote was taken and all were in favor Motion passed. Mayor Burch said the park board should be thinking about the proposed goff course. She also explained the board has 5600,000 for the goff cause and 51,000,000 for the park board, for the river park. She reviewed some of the possibilities and problems with the goff course and the board took it under advisement. Brenner brought up the matter regarding a secondary power service to the Reneer-Brenner Site Park and the need to add more walling trail lights, enlarge the stage and give it eleMrkcal service. The Mayor said she woald be working on this. Brenner brought up the matter regarding hiring a professional to begkn designing the river park He inquired to the mayor ff WRS cadd be retained as the designer since they had done the origional designs, without re-bidding the project. She said she would look into this immediately. Brenner brought np several projects confronting the board from various people regarding special projects requiring fending. Mayor Bureh said to have those people with concerns, put in writing their proposals and submit them to the park board and for those to go on to the council of approved by the park board. Having nothing farther, Brenner moved the meeting adjourned, Zimmerman seconded. All in favor, meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Gary Brenner Secretary
