A regular meeting of the Riverside Parks and Recreation board was called to order by Chairman Labe Ann Zimmerman. R quorum was present: Members Verla Best,-Gary Brenner, Lee Ann Zimmerman, and Bob Scudder. The September 17, minutes were approved. Lee Rnn Zimmerman discussed a trash container at the Homestead Road park. It appeared containers in the past were stolen. The board considered small dumpsters or simple trash bag containers. It was decided to wait until spring on this matter. The board decided to have the parks sprayed for weeds around March. Bob Gieseke is to be contacted in advance for his convienence. Chairman Zimmerman said developing the Renner park would be clearer if the board had a maP of the park to work off of. Gary Brenner is to draw a outline of such a map from the official survey and is to include the approximate location of trees, creeks, the monument, e.t.c.. Lee Ann Zimmerman and Gary Brenner are to meet at the Homestead Road park, Saturday, October 17, at 1:00, to record any equipment needing repairs, possible new tree locations and to clear out some of the plantings on the northwest corner of the park. The board discussed adding new equipment to the Homestead Road park. Verla Best suggested a ".iungle gYn-"• It was brought out the present slidelpole was designed to be added to and such a bungle gym" might be able to be added. A catalog and prices ~~ ware to be obtained from City Clerk, Betty Burch_ Gary Brenner said the drainage ditch along Homestead Road at the park needed to be graded again as it had been in the past. Seasonal rains have washed out part of the southern end of the ditch near the creek making it impossible to mow. The board thought this could possibly wait uniil spring. Bob Scudder suggested the board install four trees along Homestead Road for shade and to replace the tree recently removed where the park benches are at the Homestead Park. Types of trees and sizes were discussed. Gary Brenner said he would inquire with area nurserys on coats and installation and the best time for planting- The board decided if the trees could be obtained for $50-$60 each to go ahead and have it done. Oct 15, Page 2 The board discussed the possibility of building a tennis court(s) on the southwest corner of Vivion Road and High Drive. It was brought out resident, Ed Rule, was interested in helping on a tennis court project_ Lee Ann Zimmerman said she would meet with Mr. Rule to discuss the project, costs, e. t. c_. The board discussed building a shelter house at the Renner Park in the spring and having a dedication ceremony for the new monument in the spring. Chairman Zimmerman said she would be out of town and that because of the holidays it might be best to have one meeting on December 3, 1987 at 7:45 and this would be the last meeting until 1988.
