PARK AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF
RIVERSIDE
February 16, 1954
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Peggy DeMoss.
i%~inutes were read and approved.
Betty Burch reported that she had called four nurseries to get comparison prices
on the five red maple trees we want for the Riverside Park.
They are as follows:
G reen Hills Nursery - 2-2~-" - X45.00 each -Total of $225.00. Total cost of planting
X75.00. They do not guarantee the trees. Sale starts Mar. 1st.
Mr. Turfs - 2-2~-" _ Total price X595.00 planted and guaranteed for one year.
Earl May Nursery - 1=-2" - X129.00 ea. - planting cost 15~ of total cost. Total $741.00.
guaranteed for one year.
Nashua Nursery - 2-2~" - $95.00 ea. Planting cost X50.00 each tree. Guaranteed one yr.
Total cost $725.00.
Prices also on Burning Bushes-15-19dYh~~ - ~8" high
Mr. Turf - $23.00 ea.
Green Hill Nursery - $8.75 ea.
GRANTS:
Betty reported that State Rep. Bonnie Sue Cooper will call tomorrow in regard to the
availability of a grant for parka.
She also had contacted the Mid America Regional Council - they are sending her the
papers to apply for whatever might be available there.
TABIIES:
Betty will pick up some equipment catologs from Sr. Dave Woodruff of the North Kansas
City Park Dept, tomorrow. He offered to loan them to us for 1 week to conpare prices
from se~z eral companies. The board asked her to call some of these companies and get
their pri.cea for the kin8 of picnic table we had decided upon.
WATER:
The Missouri Cities Water Co. was to be contacted to see what the cost would be to
run a water line into the park and for a water hydrant and drinking fountain. We may
have a volunteer who would do the plumbing for us. Betty was going to call other
plumbers for an estimate.
We have a total of X8,648.03 left in our fiscal budget„which ends June 30, 1984.
Lorain Owens was to go to the Green Hills Nursery to look at their red maple trees
before their sale starts March 1st.
Those present were: Betty Burch, Peggy Dehfoss and Lorain Owens.
