HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-01-20 Park Board MinutesMINUTES OF REGULAR ME`~TING PARK AND RECREATION ADVISORS BOARD OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE January 20, 1983 The meeting was called to order by Vfce-President Peggy DeMoss, Minutes were read, corrected and approved. Peggy DeMoss reported the railroad ties are ready to be picked up at the Union Pacific Railroad yard. It has been tentively set to pick them up either Friday or Saturday. We plan to purchase 2 rolls of plastic for skating rink from Beverly Luber for $70.00 per roll. It wea reported that the Board of Aldermen has appointed David Brenner to the Park Board. The council also reported they have purchased the vacant lot from J.F. Bosworth that joins our park on the east for $12,500.00 plus the taxes and title insurance, The seedling trees have been ordered from the Missouri Dept, of Conservation. Delivery date will be March 21st. It was recommended we intermingle shrubs with the trees to aid in screening the creek. We also plan to fix a parking area to keep cars off the park grounds. It was discussed putting ahru:s around the trees that we planted last year, we Pelt the canvas were too large for that area. The board looked at some playground equipment catalogs. There were several pieces of equipment that we felt would be suitable for our park area. It was reported the possibility we might be able to either buy or lease property on High Drive for another neighborhood park. Mayor Hdmes reported Missouri Cities Water Co. is interested in disposing of the property they own on High Drive. They will let Mayor Holmes know later what their decision will be. It was discussed who to contact about getting the rock to rip rap the bank of the creehi. LeAnn Zimmerman will call Betty Burch about rip rap material. Peggy DeMoss will call Winston Peeler about the dozing work at the park. Those present were Peggy DeMoas, Lorain Owens, and LeAnn Zimmerman, chair- man of Pride and Progress.
