HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992-01-14MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI JANUARY 14, 1992 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on January 14, 1992, at 7:30 p.m. Those present were Aldermen Wedua, Teters, Karr, Rule and Marshall; Shepard absent. Said meeting was called to order by Mayor Betty Burch. The minutes of December 17, 1991 were read and approved as corrected. The minutes of January 7, 1992 were read and approved as corrected. Mayor Burch announced that the purpose of this meeting is to talk about how the City is going to increase its revenue. She said she had written North Kansas City, Kearney, Liberty, Weston, Gladstone, Parkville and Platte City requesting certain information regarding their income and she has received the information handed to each Alderman. This matter was studied and discussed. It was felt that since there has to be an election to vote on any increase of income for the City, the best time would be on the June election, since we could not have the information available for the April meeting. Discussions were had concerning the increasing of Utility Taxes, Sales Tax, and Property Tax. Everyone is to do more studying on ways to increase the City's income and bring their suggestions to the next meeting. Mayor Burch said that Mr. Garney has talked to her concerning the levee on the eastern portion of Riverside and would like to have a meeting concerning this matter at the City Hall. Wedua moved that Bill No. 92-5 be placed on its first reading, said Bill revises the sewer rates in the City of Riverside, Missouri, seconded by Rule, the vote was Karr,. Teters, Marshall, Rule and Wedua aye; Shepard absent. Karr moved that Bill No. 92-5 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Wedua, the vote was Karr, Teters, Marshall, Rule and Wedua aye; Shepard absent. Whereupon, the Bill having been made available for public inspection prior to the consideration of the Board of Aldermen, Bill No. 92-5 was passed. Mayor Burch said that she had talked to Venables and told them that theme road would be sealed and chipped.
