HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-121 - Payment of Funds to the Greater Kansas City Bridge Lighting FundBILL NO. 3002-L'1 ORDINANCE NO. 121 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF 1tTVERSIDE, MISSOURI, TO PAY CERTAIN h'UNDS TO THE GREATER KANSAS CITY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR THE DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY BRIDGE LIGHTING FUND WHEREAS, The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, the Downtown Council of Kansas City, Missouri, and several other civic ;coups, businesses and communities have joined to implement the Missouri River Bridge Enhancement Program (the "Program"), a component of which involves the lighting and improvement of the Broadway Bridge (the `Bridge") which connects the City of Kansas City, Missouri with Platte County and Riverside, Missom~i (the "City"); and WHEREAS, the lighting and improvement of the Bridge will benefit and promote the public health, safety and welfare of the City by improving the aesthetics of the Bridge; and WHERI+JAS, improvements to Bridge will have a beneficial economic impact on the City: and WHEREAS, Missouri State Statute § 313.812 directs cities wherein gaming facilities such as excursion gambling boats are located, such as the City, to establish a plan for proposed revenue sharing with other municipalities; and WHEREAS, the City wish to use part of the proceeds it receives fi-om the gaming facilities located in the City to provide assistance to communities and community projects in the City's vicinity. NOW, THEREI+ORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, as follows: Section 1. The City of Riverside shall pay to the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, for use in the Downtown Kansas City Bridge Lighting Pw~d, the total sum of Fifteen Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($15,000.00). Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to complete the Ureater Kansas City Community Foundation Pledge norm, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A, and to ensure that a cheek in the amounts described in Section 1 above is drafted and presented to The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. Section 3. The sections, paragraphs, clauses, and phrases of the Ordinance are severable and if any portion of the Ordinance is declared unlawful by the valid judgment, decree, or injuncCion order of a court of competent jurisdiction, such ruling shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs, and sections of the Ordinance and all provisions of the Ordinance not specifically declared to be m~lawftil shall remain in fill] force and effect.
