ORDINANCE NO. 2002-137
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE,
MISSOURI, TO PAY CERTAIN FUNDS TO THE CITY OF
HOUSTON LAKE, MISSOURI, FOR FIRE PROTECTION
WHEREAS, Missouri State Statute Section 313.812 directs cities wherein gaming facilities such
as excursion gambling boats are located to establish a plan for proposed revenue sharing with other
municipalities.
WHEREAS, the City wish to use part of the proceeds it receives from the gaming facilities
located in the City to provide assistance to communities surrounding it.
WHEREAS, the municipality of Houston Lake, Missouri, is a surrounding community which the
City desires to assist.
WHEREAS, the cost of fire protection in the Southern Platte Fire Protection District has
increased and the City desires to help Houston Lake pay these increased costs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of Alderman of Riverside, Missouri,
as follows:
Section 1. The City of Riverside shall pay to the municipality of Houston Lake, Missouri, Four
Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-Six and 12/100 Dollars ($4,856.12) for use in paying for fire
protection provided by the Southern Platte Fire Protection District.
Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to ensure that a check in the amount
described in Section 1 is drafted and presented to the clerk or other authorized official of the municipality
of Houston Lake.
Section 3. The sections, paragraphs, clauses, and phrases of the Ordinance are severable and if
any portion of the Ordinance is declared unlawful by the valid judgment, decree, or injunction order of a
court of competent jurisdiction, such ruling shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses,
sentences, paragraphs, and sections of the Ordinance and all provisions of the Ordinance not specifically
declared to be unlawful shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect immediately.

RE: Fire Protection Fees
Dear Betty:
In the year 2000 our Fire Protection was $9,449.40
November 27, 2002
In the year 2001 our Fire Protection was $13,359.00 which City of Riverside
donated to Houston Lake the amount of $3,901.00.
In the year 2002 our Fire Protection was $14,106.29 which City of Riverside
donated to Houston Lake the amount of $4,656.89.
In the year 2003 our Fire Protection now has increased to $14,305.52.
That is a increase of $4,856.12 over the year 2000.
We appreciate any help you might be able to provide.

Dear Mayor Head,
The following amount will be due for protection services to the City of Houston Lake
for the period of January 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003:
Amount Due: $14,305.52
The fee for services is derived from the rate of $.8164 per $100 of Total Assessed
Valuation of Houston Lake. Which after the Board of Equalization w-as $1,752,269.00.
This figure was obtained from the Platte County Clerk.
As per the mutual agreement, this fee will be paid on a monthly basis. Therefore, an
amount of $1,192.13 will be due on the first of each month.
The District looks forward to continued cooperation with Houston Lake. If you have any
