HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-04-04 MINO'TES OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOIIRI APRIL 4, 1989 A regular meeting of the Board of aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on April 4, 1989, at 7:30 p.m. The roll was called and Aldermen Burch, Kuhlman, Karr, and Wedua were present. Shepard was absent for roll call only. Said meeting was called to order by Mayor Betty Burch. The minutes of March 21, 1989, were read and approved as corrected. Gary Brenner was present and inquired if the City could provide a Porta Potty (as they did last year) for the archeological group who are digging on the Carolina Renner Park Grounds. Karr moved that the City provide a Porta Potty at the Archeological digging for a two month period, seconded by Shepard, the roll was called and Burch, Kuhlman, Karr, Wedua and Shepard voted aye. Gary Brenner also inquired concerning the new zoning ordinance, in case one of his apartments should burn, would he have to build it in accordance with the new ordinance, or could he rebuild the same size as the present apartment. Mayor Burch said she would inquire of the City Attorney and let him know later. The Finance Committee reported that there is $800,000.00 ready to go out for bids. Karr moved to place Bill No. 89-22 on first reading, said bill provides for the Finance Committee to get bids on $800,000.00, seconded by Kuhlman, the vote was as follows: Burch, Kuhlman, Karr, Wedua and Shepard voted aye. Karr moved that Bill No. 89-22 be placed on second reading, seconded by Wedua, the vote was as follows: Burch, Kuhlman, Karr, Wedua and Shepard voted aye. Whereupon the Bill having been read two times by title and copies of the Bill having been made available for public inspection prior to consideration of the Board of Aldermen, Bill No. 89-22 was passed. A request was made for the Judge and Court Clerk to attend the Missouri Courts conference on May 23, 24, and 25 at the Lodge of the Four Seasons at the following costs - Hotel 244, seminar 65; travel 40; and meals 45.00. This is an annual meeting. Meeting Page 2, April 4, 1989 Reeves Wiedeman's special use permit was brought up, this is for the storage of materials on the outside of the building at Platte Valley Industrial Park. This matter was discussed. Burch moved that Reeves Wiedeman's special use application be approved subject to it confirming with the Zoning Ordinance, seconded by Karr, the vote was as follows: Burch, Kuhlman, Karr, Wedua and Shepard voted aye. Fred Wilkins secured bids on the sweeping of the streets in the City and same are as follows: American Sweeping $65.00 per hour, not to exceed 14 hours. Delta Sweeping $70.00 per hour (last year they received the bid and it took them 12-1/2 hours Master Marten $1350.00 These bids were discussed and Fred Wilkins is to talk to Delta Sweeping to see if they could give the hours it would take to sweep the streets and get back to the Council. City Clerk Kemerling reported that she has received the Municipal Court Report for March on April 3, 1989. Chief Fred McDaniel reported that they have been having trouble with the portable radios and that last month the expenses on repairing the radios were in the vicinity of $1000.00. Chief McDaniel thought that the Motorola was the best. The cost of the Motorola is $897.00 each and he thought we were in need of eight sets. This matter was discussed. It was brought out that the budget could not afford eight sets. Shepard moved that the City purchase two Motorola Sets at the cost of $897.00 each, seconded by Kuhlman, the vote was as follows: Burch, Kuhlman, Karr, Wedua and Shepard voted aye. Chief McDaniel said there is a seminar on Domestic Violence at Warrensburg and he would like to send Candi Gram and Ken Soper. He said that there will be no overtime and with the proviso that if someone is off ill, they will cancel the seminar. Karr moved that Candi Gram and Ken Soper be allowed to attend the seminar at Warrensburg on Domestic Violence with the provision that is someone is off ill are will cause overtime that they will not attend and the City to furnish the gas for the vehicle, seconded by Kuhlman, the vote was as follows: Burch, Kuhlman, Karr, Wedua and Shepard voted aye. r 1 Minuts of Reg. Meeting Page 3, April 4, 1989 Chief McDaniel said that Geraldine Butler is doing quite well and that she is going to get about eight weeks of field training. A recess was called. Meeting reconvened. The roll was called and Burch, Kuhlman, Karr and Wedua were present, Shepard absent. It was brought out that the results of the election was reported and that it appeared the bond issue had not passed. It was discussed about having a meeting on April 6, 1989 for the purpose of installing the new Aldermen and seeing if the bond issue could be put on the June 6, 1989 ballot. Karr moved that there be a special i~~e ~t~n on Thursday, April 6, 1989 at 7:30 p.m. for the purpose of installing the new officers and discussing the putting of the bond issue on the June 6, 1989 election, seconded by Kuhlman, the vote was as follows: Burch, Kuhlman, Karr, and Wedua voted aye; Shepard absent. There being no further business to come before the Board, upon motion duly made, seconded and passed meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m. r t
