HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999 - 69 - Amendment to Section 210.580 of the Municipal CodeBILL NO. ~~ `~-~-~ ORDINANCE NO. ~ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 210.580 OF THE CITY CODE TO PROVIDE EXCEPTIONS TO THE PROHIBITION OF DRINKING IN PUBLIC PLACES WHEREAS, the City of Riverside, Missouri ("City") currently prohibits the consumption of any intoxicating liquor or beer of airy kind on any public street, sidewalk, public park, or on the outside of any other public place not having a liquor license; and, WHEREAS, the City desires to create an exception to the prohibition of consuming alcoholic beverages in public parks by granting a permit by the Board of Alderman if certain conditions are satisfied. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of Alderman of Riverside, Missouri, as follows: Section 1: Section 210.580 of the City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 210.580: DRINKING IN PUBLIC PLACE No person shall consume or drink any intoxicating liquor of any kind, including beer, on any public street, sidewalk, park or on the outside of any other public place, which does not have a liquor license permitting outside consumption. Consumption of an alcoholic beverage in conjunction with a special event that is or ang ized by an individual business entity or organization may be permitted in a public park if the Board of Alderman grants a permit authorizing the consumption of alcohol specifically for that special event. A permit authorizing the consumption of alcoholic beverages shall not be granted unless the individual business entity~or organization sponsorin tg he special event can produce a certificate of insurance liability for a minimum amount of $1,000,000 covering an~njury or property damage that may result from or during or in any manner connected with or related to the special event or any Berson attendin tg he special event. The permit shall be temporary and shall authorize the consumption of alcoholic bevera =e~, s only for the duration of the special event. This shall in no way alter the requirements set forth in R.S.Mo. ~§ 311.050, 311.482, 311.485, or any other state law pertaining to the sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages.
