HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-032 - Purchase 4 Police VehiclesResolution No. R - 2010 - 032 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF FOUR 2011 FORD POLICE INTERCEPTORS FROM SHAWNEE MISSION FORD OFF THE MID AMERICA COUNCIL FOR PUBLIC PURCHASING CONTRACT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $94,628.00 WHEREAS, the Police Department has a need for acquisition of four vehicles to replace front line marked cars used by Police Patrol daily; and WHEREAS, the City of Riverside in the adoption of its purchasing policy has approved the practice of purchasing equipment from competitive bids awarded by other governmental entities through the cooperative bidding process; and WHEREAS, Mid America Council for Public Purchasing (MACPP) has competitively bid and awarded a contract to Shaw nee Mission Ford; and WHEREAS, funds for such purpose are budgeted in the Fiscal Y ear 2010-2011 budget; and WHEREAS, the City of Riverside finds it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Riverside to authorize and approve the purchase of four 2011 Ford Police Interceptors, from Shawnee Mission Ford in an amount not to exceed $94,628.00; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: THAT the purchase of four 2011 Ford Police Interceptors from Shawnee Mission Ford, in an amount not to exceed $94,628.00 is hereby authorized and approved; and FURTHER THAT the Police Chief and/or the City Administrator, or his designee, are hereby authorized to execute all documents necessary or incidental to this transaction and the City Clerk is authorized to attest thereto. Rose ATTEST: Robin Littrell, ity Clerk Approved as to Form mp n, City Attorney Riverside Department of Public Safety AGENDA DATE: July 6, 2010 BACKGROUND: The 2010-2011 budget included funding for four 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor cars. These vehicles will be purchased from Shawnee Mission Ford, which is the MARC bid dealer. Price per vehicle is $23,657 for a total vehicle price of $94,628. An additional approximate $3,500 will be spent to transfer equipment from the vehicles that will be removed from the marked fleet to the new ones. This purchase will result in three vehicles that could be donated to another department. Currently Lake Waukomis is the only entity that has requested such vehicles. BUDGETARY IMPACT: The adopted 2010-2011 fiscal budget included $100,000 for the purchase of four new patrol cars. The cost of the cars and equipment removal/install totals $98,128.00, which is within the approved budget.
