HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-034 Authorizing Purchase of 22 Bullet Resistant Vests from Mine Safety Appliances CompanyResolution No. R-2010-034 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF 22 BULLET RESISTANT VESTS FROM MINE SAFETY APPLIANCES COMPANY OFF THE GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION PURCHASING CONTRACT GS-07F-5530P IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $24,177.68. WHEREAS, the Police Department has a need for the acquisition of 22 bullet resistant vests to replace those outdated vests currently worn by police personnel; and WHEREAS, the City of Riverside in the adoption of its purchasing policy has approved the practice of purchasing equipment from competitive bids awarded by other governmental entities through the cooperative bidding process; and WHEREAS, General Services Administration (GSA) has competitively bid and awarded a contract to Mine Safety Appliances Company (MSA); and WHEREAS, funds for such purpose were budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2009-2010 budget; and WHEREAS, the City of Riverside finds it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Riverside to authorize and approve the purchase of 22 bullet resistant vests from Mine Safety Appliances Company in an amount not to exceed $24,177.6 8. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: THAT, the purchase of 22 bullet resistant vests from Mine Safety Appliances Company in an amount not to exceed $24,177.68 utiliz ing funding from the FY 2009-2010 budget is hereby authorized, approved and ratified; and FURTHER THAT the Police Chief and/or the City Administrator, or his designee, are hereby authorized to execute all documents necessary or incidental to this transaction and the City Clerk is authorized to attest thereto. This purchase will be made directly from Mine Safety Appliances Company (MSA) from General Services Administration (GSA) contract number GS-o7F-553oP. Due to there being over 5ioo different items on the above-mentioned GSA contract, the specific items purchased are not listed on the attached GSA contract itself. An itemized list with GSA pricing is provided by way of the MSA quotation, which has also been attached to this overview. The cost of the vests totals $24,177.68, which is within the approved budget. Additionally, a reimbursement of $lo,i25.oo will be received from the United Sates Department of Justice's Bulletproof Vest Partnership, which makes the city's financial obligation $i4,o52.68
