RennerMike Duffy updated the Park Board on the progress of the improvements to Renner Brenner
Brenner Park Park. He explained that the old playground equipment has been removed and that the
Updatecontractor is working on the extension of the parking lot. The City is still waiting for the
archeologist to get a computerized model for where the post holes for some of the equipment
will be going. Most of the equipment will be surface mounted, but some of the items will
require them to be set into the ground. The contractor is ready to proceed as soon as we get
that information. The Board of Aldermen has approved the archeologist to do further work on
the artifacts recovered from the park. They will all be cleaned and categorized.
Master Plan Mike Duffy gave an update on the Master Planning process. He explained that the last Master
UpdatePlan was completed in 2006. Many of the projects that were identified have already been
accomplished. Sixty-five percent of the projects have been completed or are underway. The
remaining projects need to be revisited to see if they still fit into the plan. The first community
th
meeting was held on October 19
with about 60-70 people from the community attending.
The key areas of focus are what does downtown mean, sustainability, protecting the water in
the river and streams, and the Horizon’s area. The last plan had Horizons as an industrial park
because that was the safe choice, but the community has said that they would like to see
something different there. The next community meeting will be held sometime in January and
the process with take us into next summer.
Public Works Tom Wooddell was introduced as the new Director of Public Works. He updated the board on
what the department has been working on.
